Rare aungrl Posted July 18, 2018 #1 Share Posted July 18, 2018 We’ll be disembarking the Viking Sea on September 18 in Montreal, after crossing the Atlantic from Bergen, Norway. The ship is in Quebec the day before, with anticipated arrival time into Montreal is 4:00 a.m. We have a return flight to the U.S. that departs YUL at 12:15 p.m. (We’re U.S. citizens.). Does anyone have recent experience in clearing customs at the cruise terminal after disembarking a cruise ship? We have Global Entry/Trusted Traveler if that makes a difference in the length of time it might take. I wasn’t thinking about time needed to clear customs when I booked this flight - and, it was the only one that day that made the connection we needed in Chicago. Thanks for any thoughts. Earl Rosebery Posted July 19, 2018 #2 Share Posted July 19, 2018 Shouldn’t be a problem. . Ask to be first off. Taxi to the airport is 30- 45 minutes. You need to be at arrivals by 10:00. Customs atthe pier will be perfunctory. You clear US customs and Immigration at the airport in Montreal.

SJSULIBRARIAN Posted August 11, 2018 #5 Share Posted August 11, 2018 Are taxis readily available after clearing Customs at the pier? And what is the approximate taxi cost from the pier to the airport? Thanks.
Rare martincath Posted August 11, 2018 #6 Share Posted August 11, 2018 Are taxis readily available after clearing Customs at the pier? And what is the approximate taxi cost from the pier to the airport? Thanks. Sorry, didn't notice that the first Q here was sitting unanswered for so long.... cabs are fixed rate from downtown to airport, $42 these days if my Googling is up to snuff (hopefully a local or recent cruiser can confirm that the pier remains inside the fixed-fare zone). There should generally be some cabs lined up waiting - if yours is a regular 'dock and start disembarkation' it should be like any other port, cabbies know they'll get fares so they line up. Since some cruises do stay overnight in Montreal there won't be just one obvious 'this is when people want all the cabs' time for those cruises though. Wanting a cab at a less-popular disembarkation time when the number of lurking cabs will be smaller might be offset by fewer disembarking pax fighting you for them... Never having cruised in or out of Montreal though, the likely wait time for a cab is probably best addressed by other cruisers - even locals, unless they hang out near the port or drive cabs, wouldn't need to be aware of cab delays there... DaveOKC Posted August 11, 2018 #7 Share Posted August 11, 2018 Are taxis readily available after clearing Customs at the pier? A couple of years ago we disembarked at Montreal and decided to use the ship's transfers. Glad we did as the line for taxis was very long. Plus, the traffic was horrible near the pier and downtown area.
