Some naive folks will tell men to keep their wallets in a front pocket. That works fine until you encounter that little kids d with bandaged fingers hiding the razor blade.

Just stand in the security line at the Colosseum in Rome or wait in a crowd to cross the street on Las Ramblas in Barcelona and you'll find out first hand. Or you could watch many of the video stories that have appeared over the years on network new shows and find out just how common is "kid swarming"

Don't carry your stuff in a backpack. Use a crossbody bag. Or wear a travel vest with inside pockets. EM

Don't take them all ashore, only some money and one credit card. I bought a cross body bag in Germany. It has a flap with a button closure, the zipper is hidden underneath. Inside this compartment is another zippered pocket for money. On the back it has a zipper for easy access to tissues and other non-valuables, but the flat cruise card fits there as well.
