Schoifmom Posted July 30, 2018 #3 Share Posted July 30, 2018 what is the advantage of buying aarp or carnival gift cards? To be clear, you buy Carnival gift cards from AARP. This will (1) get you a 10% discount and (2) enable those who have trouble keeping cash to permanently designate funds for their vacation without the ability to spend it on other things. Gamecock_Cruiser Posted July 30, 2018 #4 Share Posted July 30, 2018 I don't see any Carnival gift cards listed on AARP. Do they come and go like it was with Verizon?
Schoifmom Posted July 30, 2018 #5 Share Posted July 30, 2018 I don't see any Carnival gift cards listed on AARP. Do they come and go like it was with Verizon? Yes, they do, but I see them available now. Also, be sure that you are on the Rewards for Good site for AARP.

Why would I not want to save $250 on my $2,500 cruise fare, port fees, and gratuities. Seems smarter to me to do that pay full price like you obviously do!!! Brad1972 Posted July 30, 2018 #7 Share Posted July 30, 2018 Yes, 10% off face value. Its free money. kinda like buying something on sale instead of paying full price. That's Why. I pay my entire cruise balance with gift cards. 10% savings. I use gift cards for my Sail & Sign card. Paid $900 but actually have $1000 OBC $100 of free alcohol or pop or 3 eat free at the steakhouse or $100 free milkshakes or $100 free specialty coffee's or $100 of free casino fun and so on and so on and so on. Like someone said above $2500 cruise price and use gift cards to pay for it that's $250 savings that I could buy two $100 cards for $180 then add $20 extra in the pot for a 3rd $100 card and now I just turned that free $250 into $300 for only $20. anyone lost yet? LOL. ITS FREE MONEY, WHY NOT!?
floridafunlady Posted July 31, 2018 #8 Share Posted July 31, 2018 I am getting gift cards with points from American Express. I charged part of my cruise and got 7500 points. As a result a 100.00 card was only 2500 points. Can't beat that. Sent from my SM-G920T using Forums mobile app
Schoifmom Posted July 31, 2018 #9 Share Posted July 31, 2018 I have no trouble saving cash without spending it on other things. Bully for you. Not everyone has your restraint and appreciate the way gift cards help them budget and compartmentalize their money. Why would I not want to save $250 on my $2,500 cruise fare, port fees, and gratuities. Seems smarter to me to do that pay full price like you obviously do!!! What??? I NEVER pay full price, always get the 10% off. That is MY primary reason for purchasing the gift cards. I think maybe you should go read my post again before you get so snippy. Somedayhas arrived Posted July 31, 2018 #12 Share Posted July 31, 2018 Allstate also has these cards at 10% off. They come and go also. I bought a couple when I could last month. Received them and applied with no issues. You do not have to be a member of either. I signed up for both sites. Being new to the site, I am enjoying all the great advice!
