Iggipolka Posted September 18, 2018 #1 Share Posted September 18, 2018 Just curious if anyone has bought any personal use medications at a Pharmacy in Cozumel that usually require a prescription in the US? Things like Latisse (eye lashes), antibiodics or other medications that are costly in the US. Any problems with the medications? Are they the actual meds or fake? Any problems bringing them through customs? Thanks
beached<3mermaid Posted September 24, 2018 #2 Share Posted September 24, 2018 On our first ever cruise in 2016, I purchased the generic form of Latisse (Bimatoprost) from a port pharmacy in Costa Maya, and it was authentic and worked just fine. Back then it was $40 I think. On our cruise this past Feb, the price was higher in most pharmacies, about $52 - $55 on average.

SelectSys Posted September 24, 2018 #4 Share Posted September 24, 2018 While you are unlikely ever to be prosecuted for this, please realize that the importation of drugs into the US is in many/most cases are illegal: https://www.americanbar.org/groups/health_law/publications/aba_health_esource/2017-2018/march2018/importing.html https://www.thebalanceeveryday.com/importing-prescription-drugs-for-personal-use-is-it-legal-2663880

SelectSys Posted September 29, 2018 #6 Share Posted September 29, 2018 Any suggestions on pharmacy locations? At first I was thinking that it would be best to go to somewhere like Farmacias Similares or Chedraui because they are large chains and likely to good quality control. However, it is possible that they may not stock items as described above because they are targeting locals rather than tourists.
