We are cruising from Rome to Singapore on Sapphire Princess 31st October till 28th November 2018. Very keen to see Petra without booking via Princess. Any hints or tips would be very welcome please. donaldsc Posted September 30, 2018 #3 Share Posted September 30, 2018 I am sure that it will be very easy using Google. Just type "Petra tours from xxx" where xxx is the name of the port that you are coming from. You will probably lots of hits. ToursbyLocals is also good. Heidi13 Posted September 30, 2018 #4 Share Posted September 30, 2018 In addition to the previous suggestions, I also have used Tripadvisor to find local tour companies. Be advised that Aqaba to Petra is about 80 miles, but most of the road is fairly high speed. Took us about 2 hours each way. Take lots of water, as it is hot and heading back to the visitor centre/entrance it is uphill all the way.

Heidi13 Posted October 4, 2018 #6 Share Posted October 4, 2018 Any clues regarding getting visa for India? We applied via a website and still waiting. Handy hints welcome please. Any time we require Visa's for India or China we always employ a Visa procurement company. It's expensive, but you complete their form and provide them with passports and photos. They do everything and if local call you to pick up your passport, or post it back to you. We require an India Visa for our next cruise. Fortunately, the cruise line provides a complimentary Visa service. We complete the required forms and send the passports with 10 photos and they acquire all the necessary Visas. Jenbingo Posted October 4, 2018 Author #7 Share Posted October 4, 2018 Thanks so much for that, we applied for ours on line and they took 3 weeks. We have just received them one day before travelling! Panic over.
Chmw Posted October 29, 2018 #8 Share Posted October 29, 2018 We did Petra privately on this years world cruise. We got in before the massive number of ships tours arrived and weremable to see things without heads in the way. Make sure you visit the museum which is on the left as you go in. Jordan Horizons Tours (JHT) was one company that went in. https://www.viajordan.com/checkout.php is the website of the tour company we used. Both are OK. I think the clue is to leave ship as early as possible.
