22-day South America and formal nights (Zaandam)

Can someone please tell me how many formal nights would occur on the 22-day South America/Antarctica cruise on Zaandam?

It will be at least three, but I don't know the cut-off where it jumps to four.
It will be on your documents when you receive them, which should be in plenty of time to plan (and purchase any garments you may want).

We did this cruise last year and because HAL no longer have 'formal evenings' (now called 'gala evenings'), we found it difficult to differentiate between those and any other evening.  Very few tuxedos/posh frocks in evidence.

I recall 3 gala nights.  My cruise was a Christmas/New Year's cruise and the majority of guests were nicely dressed during those evenings.  Some long dresses and tuxedos were being worn.  New Year's Eve was very festive!

I was on this cruise two years ago, and I think there were 3 gala nights.  On my cruise, a few folks had tuxes and long dresses, but many had suits and cocktail dresses, etc.  Folks dressed very well, indeed!  If people did not want to participate, I believe they had dinner at the Lido Buffet or in their cabins with room service so they did not have to dress up.  Whatever makes one happy!
