ScubaDuck Posted October 28, 2018 #1 Share Posted October 28, 2018 Hello everyone! I guess now that the Cruise bug has bit me, I should go ahead and start posting and not just lurking 🙂 My wife and I have sailed on the Legend, Freedom, and Conquest, and now have a May 11 trip planned on the Magic in a Junior Suite. I have heard some great things about this ship, and am really hoping our favorite cruise director (Malcom) will be on it as well. As for my questions for those who have sailed recently on the Magic: 1. Do all of the cabins have the new-fangled power switch at the door to control the power in the room (requires a card)? 2. I read a review on here about the Punchliner on Magic requiring "tickets". Is that true, or is it first-come-first-serve like the other ships we've been on? 3. I noticed they have a pool table on board (AWESOME)! Is there a charge? Do they hold any tournaments? That's all for now - I am CERTAIN i will be posting some more, plus doing what I can to contribute to some of the "answering" too 🙂 Thanks in advance! OceanGirl4 Posted October 28, 2018 #4 Share Posted October 28, 2018 Pool tables are in the sportsquare area.....available to play anytime.
PhillyFan33579 Posted October 28, 2018 #5 Share Posted October 28, 2018 The only pool table I recall on Magic is at the outdoor Sportsquare, which is free to use. Every time I have cruised on Magic there have been a lot of kids in that area, so I don’t spend much time there. I also don’t recall ever seeing a pool tournament listed in Fun Times. However, that isn’t something I would have been looking for during a cruise. I dont know if this is something you would be interested in, but the beer pong tournaments in the Red Frog Pub are always a lot of fun.

bakersdozen12 Posted December 24, 2018 #9 Share Posted December 24, 2018 The pool table is a novel concept, but not practical when you consider its outside on a moving cruise ship. Impossible to play due to the movement and wind. We tried, and had fun anyway. More so from the laughing involved due to balls flying off the table. I also can’t recall if all of the balls were there, but I’m kind of thinking they weren’t.

TomCruise48 Posted December 24, 2018 #11 Share Posted December 24, 2018 Last word that we heard about Malcolm (3 weeks ago) is that he is on medical leave recovering from surgery and doing well. MarQ is the current CD on the Magic, but is scheduled to sign off on 3/1/2019.
