Random Winds--brand new catamaran and they do a great tour. check out the website

Concur! We used them last month and enjoyed a great day with others from our cruise. If you have mobility issues that could be a concern. You must walk about 10-15 minutes from the ship and meet them where they dock their catamaran near town. Was not a problem for us. They will provide a map with detailed instructions.

My favorite beach on the island is Grand Case, with all the restaurants, it will really be a beautiful day. Baie Rouge on the French side is also a very nice beach, it's very secluded and you could likely be one of very people people there.

I also enjoyed going to Pinel Island. Some tours have it included as an add-on, and there are even tours for you to kayak there. But Pinel is gorgeous, and most certainly worth your time!

Are there tour guides at the dick or do they need to be reserved ahead of time?

There will be lots of folks trying to sell tours just outside the terminal gates. Best to book ahead of time. That guarantees your party the tour you want, the price you are willing to pay and an opportunity to review the excursion and company online now.

We just got back from a cruise today.  We were on the Celine III (Enigma) in St Maarten for the 6th time.  It's a private GIANT Catamaran and it is THE BEST EXCURSION we have ever done.  It is about $150 per person and goes from about 9-3…Totally worth it if you're looking for an excursion to remember for EVER!!!  It holds a maximum of 22 guests but since it's private and not many people know about it, there are rarely that many.  There are many places to lounge on nice comfy beds or simply lay in the netting in the front.  They are at the marina right next to the cruise port.  You will stop for about 2 hours to enjoy the beautiful waters or take a swim to the beach.  Captain Neil is awesome and will serve you breakfast (fruits, pastries and coffee), anything you want to drink, and THE MOST DELICIOUS LUNCH at sea.  His son owns a restaurants and has passed all his cooking skills to his dad.  He serves fall off the bone ribs, blackened fish, a wonton salad that is to die for, a fruit salad, a potato salad and more.  We reserved this Catamaran for us and our guests the day after our wedding and have been coming back every time we can for the past 6 years.  http://www.sailstmaarten.com

FWIW, the website says it's $175.
