New Year's Eve

It was probalby more exciting than what we did.   We watched the boring stuff on TV, had a few drinks and fell asleep before midnight.

After so many years it just becomes another day except for having to think about filing taxes, paying  property taxes and start over paying deductibles for medical and drug plans.

I know now it sounds like a Debbie and Doug Downer but it is reality

I have read and heard that they do have parties and celebrate.  Why not?   You are on a cruise.

We would really enjoy doing it but the prices are a lot higher and the ships are almost at max capacity becasue there are many children

I have a few BT friends that are BTs in Las Vegas.   If possible they avoid working on NYE bcause it is a mad house and everyone wants a drink in their hand at midnight. After midnight they claim that you could shoot a cannon ball down the casino and it wouldn’t hit anyone.   I am sure that the ships would be the same.  Probably worst than a sail away.

Happy cruising 🌊🚢🇺🇸🌅

So you've never actually been on a ship for NYE, that's what I'm ferreting out from your post?

To give YOU some background, we did, once, but not on Celebrity (it was HAL), but it was a very, very special NYE (1999 to 2000, and no the world didn't end because of Y2K).

The HAL cruise (our one and only) was fantastic, not only did they give us gifts every day (nice ones, too - Waterford glasses and Delft china), but on NYE every single venue had a different party going on, so you could choose disco in one lounge, ballroom dancing in another, we chose the middle choice of a great party by the pool.

I don't expect a "regular" NYE cruise to come close to that (too many more details to mention), but I was just wondering what NYE aboard a Celebrity ship was like.

I found a whole section on NYE right here on Cruise Critic.

And sorry about my brain fart with balloon drop - it's got to be a facsimile of the Times Square ball drop?

In any case, sounds fine and I think we're going to go for it.

On our Summit NYE cruise, they had a balloon drop in the Atrium and a pool deck party.  On our Eclipse NYE cruise, they had a big party on the pool deck with free sparkling wine for everyone, music and dancing.  Can't remember if the Eclipse had a balloon drop or not.
