Questions about Cirque du Soleil shows on Meraviglia

Hello Everyone,

We are going for the MSC Meraviglia cruise in Feb. I am interested in the Cirque du Soleil show, but not sure which to choose, Sonar or Viaggio. We will travel with my parents, who do not understand English or any other foreign language other than Chinese.

BTW, shall we book the show now on the MSC website, or book it when we are on the ship?

Thanks :-)

We are going on the MSC Meraviglia next week and pre-purchased tickets for both shows. Coincidentally, we are bringing my mother-in-law who also speaks mostly Chinese.

I've read that both shows are very different.

Sonor

Main character Sonor, a playful, elusive virtual character, first appears in the form of a single sound. Continually altering in appearance, Sonor guides the audience through the show and instigates all that is seen and heard. With sound at its heart, SONOR takes us on an auditory adventure with dancers, acrobats and characters, all moving to the rhythm. Its beat stimulates the senses and fuels our emotions.

Viaggio

VIAGGIO is the story of a passionate and eccentric artist who hears the call of his Faceless Muse, a woman he has attempted to paint many times but always in vain. Mysterious and seductive, she beckons the Painter to boldly cross the threshold between reality and illusion into the vivid landscape of his unbridled imagination where he will finally complete his masterpiece.

Dinner seats are not as close to the stage as the drink-only seats, if I remember correct guest keep their seat at the tables during the show. I would recommend booking without dinner if you prefer better seating

If buying the Dinner Package, do you get assigned seating or at least reserved/preferred seating? Do YC passengers get any better seating with or without buying the dinner package?

Definitely better seats with the cocktail package, dinner seating is poor. YC guests receive no priority over seating. My advice would be to book both shows, they are excellent and quite different.

Thank you, will book shows in advance, but we have time, our next MSC cruise is in December.

You will need to rebook the shows, once onboard. The on-line booking only takes care of payment as the time and date booked does not follow through....silly, but true!

I was wondering about that. Are the table locations reserved first come first served (best to not so good...)? And I guess prebooking is really only for saving some money.

Yes, I guess so, there was certainly no priority given for our YC status.

  • 2 weeks later...

We just finished our cruise and I can happily report that both shows we're great!

You can't go wrong with either show, we we're glad we got tickets for both. If I could only see one, Viaggio would be my choice.

Sebi was spot on, there are no spoken words so language should not be an issue.

Cruise Pro Tips:

1) Schedule your showtimes as soon as you get on board.

None of the seats are bad, but some are better then others. They will try to book you in the next open show, it's worth it to push back for a better seat on a different day.

2) The best seats come with the drink package.

Dinner comes with a great view, but nothing like the first few rows.

Good luck and enjoy!

Thank you mike! Your information is really useful. Where do you schedule your showtime, at the info desk or on the MSC for me app?

If you purchase in advance, scheduling for these shows has to be done in-person.

You'll find the scheduling area at the theater located In the casino.

Thank you very much. I am not sure if it is better to purchase in advance. Is there a price difference if purchasing before the cruise?

Wondering how the free dinner and show given as a perk for some booking last year....how is the day and time scheduled. The fine print says it should be booked after boarding. If I try to book online, I am charged full amount.  Who do I contact for booking this promo?   Thanks in advance.

If you log into your booking on the MSC website, you will find a "Enhance your cruise" section. Cirque du soleil is shown under the subsection "Add Restaurants".

When we were YC on Meraviglia our butler took us to the theatre and  escorted us, via a separate roped off queuing area, to the front of the queue and we went in ahead of the others.

So ask your butler to  do the same

Was this for the main theatre or the Cirque show theatre, or both?

Indeed, that was the service we received also. The question, which my response was to, was 'are the table locations (Cirque de Soleil) reserved first come first served'. Always best to understand context, before replying as there is a risk of confusion!
