PittsburghNative Posted January 6, 2019 #1 Share Posted January 6, 2019 Is there? Is Mt Roberts Tram worth seeing? I would be doing this type of tour on my own.
1025cruise Posted January 6, 2019 #2 Share Posted January 6, 2019 From what I recall, the price for Mt Roberts tram is the same whether you buy onboard or at the ticket counter. I would wait until day of. Juneau can be cloudy, and the views might not be that good. You don't want to be stuck going up if its going to be a terrible view. Rare Tippyton Posted January 6, 2019 #3 Share Posted January 6, 2019 DIY for both is cheaper than a "tour" and provides flexibility depending on weather, etc. One can spend most of your port time at either, esp. if you like hiking. Mendenhall is further and takes much more time to and from. The tram is right there. We did the tram in the morning, so the sun was behind us for the most part and our views along the channel were better., as opposed to afternoon sun/glare. donaldsc Posted January 6, 2019 #4 Share Posted January 6, 2019 In direct answer to the title of your post - you do not need a tour to do the Mt. Roberts tram. You just walk up to the ticket office and buy a ticket. DON
