EDGE MDR plus 3 How easy to change venues with Traditional Dining

My question is how easy it is to try the other MDRs if you are doing Traditional dining? A quick reading of the information on the X web page, makes it sound easy to try each of the other three MDRs until you get to "based on availability". How available are the other three MDRs ? Or should we try to change to select dining when we got on the Ship?

So, is traditional fixed dining with same table, table mates dead on the Edge?

No, it still exists. But one can request to try out other MDRs on a space available basis one or more nights if one desires if in traditional dining. If one does not request this, then one would dine at the same table at the same time each night.

So for traditional dining you would be assigned one of the four restaurants for entire cruise or would you and your tablemates move between the venues?

Still this could impact the traditional dining experience for those who want a full table with the same tablemates for the duration of the cruise. Some will likely want to try the other restaurants which will cause more fragmentation, more so than those who occasionally skip to take in a specialty restaurant.

If you are assigned Traditional dining on The Edge you CAN TRY to go to one of the other four Dining Rooms at your assigned time to see if there's availability, but to be honest it's up to availability at the other Dining Rooms and it's really not a viable option since you're competing with people on Select dining. The best time to try that would be on a Port Day where it's a late stay, as it was on our Eastern Caribbean cruise where we were in the port of San Juan until 10:30pm. We stayed in our assigned Late seating at the Cyprus Restaurant, and in hindsight it would have been a perfect time to try a different restaurant since Cyprus was only 40% filled. I assume the other restaurants were the same with people staying in San Juan to dine off ship.

If you really want to try all 4 MDR's, do Select Dining, and then just book your times and restaurant on the website in advance.  That's what we did, and it worked flawlessly.  We booked for 6:30 PM every night, and rotated - so we ate in 3 of the MDR's twice, and the 4th only once. Never a wait.

If you have traditional, you may be stuck as it is by availability, and usually that meant eating very late from others we spoke to.
