boeckli Posted January 10, 2019 #1 Share Posted January 10, 2019 Claiming for a missed port on a domestic cruise. InsureandGo have requested a copy of my passport and copy of my medicare or private health card as proof of residency in Australia. Would this be a standard requirement? Have any others needed to provide this? I'm generally reluctant to hand over copies of these kinds of documents ... Any experience you can share would be appreciated. Hello boeckli, I have taken Travel Insurence with Insureandgo on many occasions. I have claimed for missed ports a few times with no problems but these missed ports were INTERNATIONAL. All they asked for was a copy of the ID Page of my Passport and a letter from the Cruise Company ( Pursers Desk ) as proof of a missed Port. I have never been asked to supply my Medicare or Private Health Card. Regards Zac. I have never been asked to show my Without submitting that info your claim my not be processed Edited January 10, 2019 by Zac#1 Wrong name

Russell21 Posted January 10, 2019 #5 Share Posted January 10, 2019 We've had missed port claim and all we had to provide was the letter from the cruise line regarding the missed port and a copy of the original itinerary. This was on a trip to the islands.

kiwimeggles Posted January 10, 2019 #9 Share Posted January 10, 2019 Hi. I booked insure and go for a recent cruise for myself. Im a kiwi living in oz and that required me to read their PDS to make sure i was covered. The pds does state the insurance is only available to oz citizens/perm residents or non-permanents with a medicare card and if making a claim you maybe requested to provide a copy of your passport/ residency docs or any other official documents confirming your citizenship or oz residency. They are not under obligation to pay if proof cannot be supplied.
Tara Jane Posted January 13, 2019 #10 Share Posted January 13, 2019 (edited) I had a missed port due to monsoon in Japan last year. Princess gave us each $50 as compensation. Last month on HAL in NZ we had a missed port due to weather and they very generously gave us the port fee back which was something like $3.20 !!!! In any case no point me making a claim as my excess is $100. Edited January 13, 2019 by Tara Jane

Tara Jane Posted January 13, 2019 #14 Share Posted January 13, 2019 Just checked my policies, NZ was tick and no cover and Japan was insure and go but the basic so no cover. Never mind I am no worse off than I was an hour ago before reading your post. Upcoming cruise is with QBE for me and CBA/Covermore credit card for hubby as he has no pre existings and they wont cover me. Cover for missed port won't influence my choice of insurer as I basically have to go with whoever will insure me for pre existings but I must keep in mind just in case. THanks again for your info
