Sunbedsue Posted January 13, 2019 #1 Share Posted January 13, 2019 I know you can take 1litre of spirts per person when embarking for your cruise but how would this equate if taking pre-mixed cans of Gin& Tonic? Going on the basis that each can contains 1 unit of alcohol and there are 37 units in a litre of gin does this mean I can take up to 37 cans per person (not that I would due to weight and likelihood of not drinking that much on the cruise) sunbedsue
rumbalizw Posted January 14, 2019 #2 Share Posted January 14, 2019 (edited) We took just a few cans of pre-mixed G&T. Nowhere near a litre each. Anyway, I happened to mention it, on a FB page, and some people had a right go at me. no one was in the least bit bothered at Southampton though. AndyMichelle Posted January 14, 2019 #3 Share Posted January 14, 2019 37 cans of G&T!!! What will you do on the second day??? I don't know the definitive answer, but I think a reasonable amount will not be questioned at Southampton. Enjoy... Andy
tartanexile81 Posted January 15, 2019 #4 Share Posted January 15, 2019 We asked security at Southampton, and they said it wasn't their job to monitor alcohol so I cant see some low alcohol mixer type of cans will be a problem.
ONT-CA Posted January 19, 2019 #5 Share Posted January 19, 2019 As you say, the alcohol to tonic ratio to equate to one litre of 40% alcohol would exceed 30 cans. There are posts where passengers not only bring along a case of 24 cans of soft drinks but place a luggage tag on the case pre boarding and it is delivered right to their cabin. In the choice of mixed beverage, the alcohol content meets the set limit.
Clodia Posted January 19, 2019 #6 Share Posted January 19, 2019 I've now returned to taking what I used to take ie 2 different bottles. No one was the least bothered at Southampton.
