eyern1 Posted January 14, 2019 #1 Share Posted January 14, 2019 I know it's more of an rv thing, but it also provides medical benefits such as transportation. I just wonder if it actually works when you have to have it. I tried looking on rv forums and couldn't find any instances where anyone had used it and very few instances where other companies had been used as well. I guess when someone gets that sick, they don't ever think to post about their experiences. I just got an offer in the mail and it's only $59 right now for the 2 of us. Since I've got a cruise coming up, I figured I'd probably sign up at this price, but I know that Road service with Good Sam can not be what it's advertised. It has a hit or miss history, therefore, I was hoping to find people who have unfortunately had to have medivac or hospitalization service with Good Sam. cherylandtk Posted January 16, 2019 #2 Share Posted January 16, 2019 Good Sam Travel Assist does NOT pay for any medical care, and it’s not medical insurance. The primary two benefits are the RV return and IF you are injured/ill on a trip away from home AND they (not you) determine that the local hospital or clinic cannot provide adequate care, then they will transport you to a hospital that can. It is not transport home or to a hospital of your choice. I was just thinking of getting it as a medical evacuation assistance.
cherylandtk Posted January 17, 2019 #4 Share Posted January 17, 2019 It’s not great as evac insurance...all it gets you to is the nearest suitable hospital from where you get sick or injured. It will not bring you home.

It will not bring you home. It will get you home after you are stable enough after an evac. It does not offer hospital of choice as stated but once you are able to go home it will only pay for an economy ticket if you need Business or a nurse the difference is out of pocket.
