Chankanaab Update

We have been here several times and the last visit on Tuesday was different.

First off we noticed extensive damage to the dolphin area from a storm earlier in the week.

there was some shows but I am sure there were cancellations.

The snorkel area had a ton of seaweed probably from same storm.

We were disappointed when we were told that we were not able to use the pool with our $23 general admission.

The pool is only included with dolphin and other packages.

In December we were able to use the pool so this must be a recent change

Do you mean only the people with a dolphin package could use the swimming pool?

I always assumed Dolphin Discovery was a franchise within the park. I thought the other facilities were covered by the entrance fee unless they were an additional fee. What other “packages” do you mean?

the winter storms seem to be bringing a lot more seaweed to the west coast of Cozumel this year. We had a lot of seaweed at Nachi in December. I don’t know if there really is more, or we are just hearing more reports of it, after the really bad sargassum problem this summer throughout the Caribbean.

Mainland Mexico has been having a bad sargassum  problem the last two years.  We've canceled our annual two weeks there for 2019 because of it.  I'm sad to see it is hitting Cozumel because as of last summer it hadn't.  We will be in Cozumel twice this year.

The east coast of Cozumel has had the same problems as the mainland.
