Is there anything out there to sign up for so we can texted each other on the ship?

NCL app for Android and iPhone allows you to text/call each other while on the ship. It costs $10/phone/cruise. You don't have to pay for internet to use it, but have to be connected to the ship WiFi.

You just download it yourself, from the Appstore or Google Play:

You probably need to do it once on board the ship.  Keep in mind - that $10 only covers texting within the ship to others that have the app and have paid for the feature, you'll need an internet plan for WiFi texting to people on-shore or need to pay for the cell-at-sea service.

You can only set this up after connecting to ship's WiFi system.

I didn't care for it.  Sometimes messages would take a while to be delivered and  more often than not I could not connect on a call.
