Jen Smith on Oprah
Did you see Nancy Grace tonight?
The awning covering the life boats looks almost flat, never been and that type ship so I wouldn't know.
Ken, on Greta's show it also looked flat but she specifically stated that it was convex. Actually she said it was concave which would have meant there was a depression but her description of it indicated it was convex. In fact she and her panel called it concave all night and in her blog the following day she corrected it.

It's late, did that make any sense?
Yeah, I know I probably have more time on this then some of them, lol
I'm playing catch up here so ignore me if I am repeating something.

Maybe somebody should send this link to the Smiths for their edification. Some folks here have done a fantastic amount of homework!

FBI has stated -0- about this case. Jen stated that she passed the test, no one else but her attorney & he got that from her. She was taken to a hospital for tests, so FBI has that also.

I find it amazing that people cleared, as Scott was originally then he started blowing it, are gilty & folks arrested, as OJ was, are not. we had a guy who was in jail for 7 years for murdering his MIL. Now DNA gets him out & the next door neighbor who is in jail is charged. Now the State has to pay $700,000 to the guy for locking him up.
How do you know this? I don't recall that the FBI has ever made ANY statement involving this case.
when Turks were done with Jen, the U S Consulate & Marie went onto the ship, leaving Jen with FBI agent & other Consulate person. Marie got the combination o the safe so the Consulate could clean it out & they both packed the clothes & items to give to Jen. Marie stated on Joe Scumbag's show that she then took Jen's hand again offer her condolences & told her good bye. She boarded the ship, Jen was ith the U S Consulate who booked her flight on Luthansa that night & a day room at a hotel for her to relax. Now if they charged her for the flight that has nothing to do with RCCL who was not involved.
Didnt the RCCL guy say they thought the American Consulate was picking up the hotel/airfare home? I'm sure with so much other stuff on their hands (like trying to find out what happened to her husband) the ship staff/US based staff/American Consulate etc all had things on their mind and there was probably a lot of misunderstandings in this situation as to who was supposed to do what.
I'm sure the "bill" she got in the mail was a normal charge processing of the shipboard account. I'm sure it would have been nice to not receive it, but to make it sound like RCCL deliberately sent her (an extra) bill in the mail right after her husbands disappearance and some of the other things she was crying about (didnt notice very much crying over her missing husband), make it sound like she thinks the world revolves around her.
Cancel the rest of the cruise for the other 2000 guests and fly them home because the cruise line has insurance for this and keep the ship in Turkey for more evidence gathering? YGBKM.
She didnt win me over in any way and this was the first time I've seen her on anything.
MIAMI, Jan. 20 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Royal Caribbean has cooperated fully with all investigating authorities from the moment the company discovered Mr. George Smith's disappearance.
The company continues to be concerned that the release of so much information about this case has the effect of making the FBI's investigation more difficult, and that view has been repeatedly expressed by not only our company and others but also the FBI as recently as today.
Nevertheless, the company has decided to permit attorneys and investigators for the Smith family and Jennifer Hagel Smith to visit the ship on Monday, January 23, with the hope that they will honor the concerns about maintaining the confidentiality and the integrity of the FBI's investigation.
The company has noted the attorneys' and investigators' request to throw objects over the balcony of the Smiths' cabin. Due to the fact that the ship is in service with guests on board, the company cannot permit this activity at this time. However, the company is willing to discuss this activity under different circumstances sometime in the future.

to have CEO Richard Fain on as he appeared on other news magazines defending RCCL with great presence. This President seemed to be a paper person, not a speech major. I thought he did a lousy job. He looked scared to death. I believe a President, since Jack Williams, is just a person in place to handle building new ships, head of meetings, doing what Richard has no time for.

Jen was on Rita Cosby with Richard she she kept her cool with him since she knew she was losing badly. Sam as Joe Sumbag Scarborogh who for months has called Richard Fain names since he refused to come on his show, which is too loud to B rated for lousy info, but then he showed. Joe acted like a gentleman, like Richard was the Director of the show. No yelling anywhere that night. I was amazing.

Now this statement doesn't surprise me, all the media lately they had to say something to try to cool it down, although they have done well in standing up.
Correct me if I'm wrong but most of the information that has been discussed has been in the media for a while.

Not entirely true, here is a link the FBI statement. http://www.usdoj.gov/usao/ct/Documen...2007292005.pdf Doesn't say much other than she is cooperating.
All the information I have seen indicates the only thing that was done at the hospital was a visual examination, " they looked up my shirt and down my shorts" that was from her mouth, so take it as you will.

My thought on the matter is. She and hubby were fighting in the disco. She became violent in public to hubby. I think she maybe continued fighting with hubby in cabin. Hubby stumbled and fell overboard. She paniced and thought she might be found responsible for his "accident". So she goes and pretends to be rip roaring drunk and "passes out" in the hall deliberately on the other side. Staff takes her back to cabin. Nothing is amiss because hubby is outside of ship not inside room. She then thinks she must still go to massage in order to create an alibi for her whereabouts. This way she will probably "act" surprised when hubby doesn't show up for massage but in the meantime I think she knows all along where hubby is and what happened to him. I think we will end up learning from their past history that she has a history of violence towards her husband. This would explain why the lady in the casino saw her stone sober at 2:30 am...........because she was! She is just an amazing actress. That is my take on the matter. Time will tell if we are right. Oprah sure didn't ask any difficult questions, I found that strange, as Oprah is usually not one to back down.
Didnt the FBI remove the carpet?
It's been reported that the FBI did in fact take the carpet. It was reported on Jan 5th, but I can not find it now. There is begining to be so much info about it on the web, things are getting lost in cyberspace. But if you read the transcripts from Joe Scumborough on Jan 5th, they even addressed that they just found out, "through RCI, that they gave the carpet to the FBI"...can no longer find where RCI said that though....I think it was said by the captain if I remember right.

Ken, if the Turkish hospital "looked up" the widow's dress, it may have been as part of a rape test. So that wild theory may be put to bed.

I was looking forward to Dr. Lee's tests with the dummy. I understand that he was going to see how far the widow could kick the dummy, or was it throw the dummy?? Oh well, either way we will have to wait...of course the test could be simulated on "Joe Scumborough".:D

I saw a rumor that DW might be a first round draft choice by the Houston Texans as their new kicker. Wow would that inprove game attendance!!

In response to the original poster's questions, I thought JS' demeanor was the best that could be expected given her situation. Regarding how I thought RCCL President handled the "doing all you could" question... I say BRILLIANT!

Bardgal, thanks for taking the time to write your response.

I love cruisecritic boards! "They sure do offer a bit of "americana" don't they?"

I agree!

What got me was how the focus was all about what wasn't done for HER!

Unreal. Crocodile tears and all ..and not until the end of the show.

I was disappointed that Oprah didn't stop the entire.."you need to appologize to me" argument long before. I think we will find out Jen is involved eventually.

I think it is a darn shame that the dummy testing can not be done. I'm sure it would have been very telling. When, exactly, would the ship be available for this type of testing? Not any time soon. I certainly hope Dr. Lee has other tricks up his sleeve so this can come to resolution!

Don't get me wrong, I understand the need to protect the passengers and that it is a short turn-around time to do everything they have to do to prepare for the next sailing but I find it very frustrating.

I want to know why Oprah did not ask her if she "remembered" talking to her friend in the casino at 2:30am??? The woman said George and Jennifer were a lovely couple and she saw them in the casino that evening and spoke w/ Jennifer about 2:30am at which time Jennifer was not drunk at all???HMMMMM but passed out in a hallway 2 hrs later??? Why didn't they QUIZ her on her memory of that..since she DOESN"T remember anything it would have been interesting to hear her response..?? Just a wee bit fishy...

Did anyone notice Jennifer's reaction when the witnesses spoke of the meeting in the casino? I wanted for Oprah to ask her,"Do you remember that Jennifer?" "Tell me about that encounter, when you were perfectly sober, what did you do after 2:30? Do you remember that?"

I did promise myself i would not get involved in this subject..but here goes.

1) cameras in the public areas of the cruise ship (ESPECIALLY THE CASINO)

2) How much did they drink? Check their SEAPASS ACCOUNT

3) Do they really expect everyone on board to know something? Get real. I have only been married for 1 month (married on the NAVIGATOR OF THE SEAS in dec.) and honeymoon on the EMPRESS OF THE SEAS. I can tell you, that if i woke up and didn't see my wife beside me or didn't see my wife for even 10 minutes at a time without her having told me, Do you really think i would go for a COUPLES MASSAGE?.

4) Finally the treatment.....So she had 1 duty officer (likely a phillapino or an Indian ShipBoard Police Officer) instead of 2, with her....honestly do you really need 2 duty officers? What would they be doing? Protecting her from everyone who doesn't know what is going on? Like the cruise is going to announce "Passengers we are delayed to a missing person" She did have 1 Duty officer and 1 Guest Relations Officer with her. Personally, I would rather have a GRO with me.....who was trained to deal with people face to face, and would likely be more proficient in English and who would be more personable.

i am quite dissappointed in the OPRAH. sorry O but I am.
