jame_g Posted February 12, 2019 #1 Share Posted February 12, 2019 MSC seems to have a somewhat limited selection of excursions for my cruise which is about 11 months out. Mostly city tours in vans/buses or walking tours. Do they generally add more excursions a little closer to the cruises? Maybe not all the vendor contracts go that far out? Or is this likely to be everything that MSC will offer?
Rare Beamafar Posted February 13, 2019 #2 Share Posted February 13, 2019 MSC don't make all their excursions available to prepurchase; they only offer a select few (with a 20% discount) for pre-booking. There will be a wider selection once onboard.
Cauzneffct Posted February 13, 2019 #3 Share Posted February 13, 2019 I still don’t understand why they do that. Maybe the typical MSC cruiser doesn’t book things until on board, but there’s no chance that i’d hold out hope that they’ll offer something I want rather than just book my own private excursion. I’d figure that they’re missing out on a significant revenue stream by “hiding” excursions from pre-booking.
Rare Beamafar Posted February 13, 2019 #4 Share Posted February 13, 2019 I gave up, a long time ago, trying to figure out why MSC do things the way they do. 1

Certainly for our Oct/Nov cruise there are lots of excursions listed, but for Armonia cruise there were more offered once onboard.
CruisingFox27 Posted February 13, 2019 #7 Share Posted February 13, 2019 I would say not all cruises, we've certainly been on cruises where there were no additional excursions available on board. Some itineraries just don't seem to have many available per port.
