U.S. State Department Issues : Level Travel Warning Bahamas

The Caribbean is not as safe as some may think. While a level 2 warning would not stop me from traveling it does put you on guard.  

 

"Exercise increased caution in The Bahamas due to crime.

Violent crime, such as burglaries, armed robberies, and sexual assault, is common, even during the day and in tourist areas"

Yes, I received this email alert today as well, and it seems to be the same one they've issued before.  Not making light of it at all, just saying that when it first popped into my inbox, I thought perhaps they'd raised the warning level.  Happy to see that was not the case.  Still, good words of caution.
