Discovery cabins

Recommended Posts

A couple of questions for all of you seasoned Discovery passengers.

we are going on this ship in August this year and have booked a Deck six balcony cabin.

what in your experience is a decent cabin number ? We have looked on the deck plans and notice that the sqid and anchor is  at the one end so probably best avoided for late night noise.

all opinions appreciated.

We had 6074 which was very quiet. We liked it as it is very near to the coffee port and the atrium. There was often music in the atrium  but we couldn't hear it. The cabin was very good but not enough drawer space for us so we kept some things back in the case under the bed!

Caught between a rock and a hard place!. aft you may get engine noise and prop vibrations. On Discovery deck 5 forward is the Squid and Anchor. There is the area between the atrium and the forward staircase which has the shops below it. That looks the best bet?

Thanks for that Dave only been on Discovery 2 so far and thought both ships were the same but now having looked at the deck plans I see the Venue is called the Squid and Anchor on Discovery Will pay a visit in June

Just remember deck 5 stern is the staff recreation area we could just about hear them and smell the cigarettes on deck 8 suggest deck 6 could be a problem but don't know 🤔 it is however a great view. It was originally the Venue on deck 5 Discovery they just changed the name no idea why

Deck 6 midships near to atrium and coffee port particularly good as there are 6 lifts there which take you wherever you want easily and although next to the coffee port and atrium  we were never woken by early risers or footfall to the lifts

Deck 6 is a good choice. Last year we had 6534 a balcony and an inside opposite on Disc 2. Great position forward of the coffee port. We found it to be a lovely quiet area. Close to the main atrium lifts and also near the stairs and forward lifts.

Thanks everyone for your replies.

Dronnygirl.  6074 looks like a good call we will be asking for that one or thereabouts .👍

Davecctr.  your suggestion above the broad st shops is where we had in mind so that area is also on our shortlist.😏

Vitalsign. between the coffee port and above the shops sounds good.😏

PC. thanks for info about staff recreation area, something else to think about.👍

Mallykatt. thanks for your input, Not sure if Discovery2 is the same layout as Discovery, I will check it out.👍

We now have a shortlist so will give Marella a call and see what's available.

Keep well all.  😊
