mmadhatter Posted March 2, 2019 #1 Share Posted March 2, 2019 Have never traveled without travel insurance. Living in New England and traveling in January annually, we occasionally run into weather related problems. This year was no different but in a different way. We made our cruise and enjoyed the great Caribbean weather. However, for the first time, we couldn’t get home due to major storm closing all airports in my area. Next flight available wasn’t until four days later. We were “Stuck” in 85° Ft. Lauderdale for 4 days (home was at -5°). Contacted bosses about our delay, then Nationwide Travel Insurance. Great customer experience along with detailed info and policy info that resulted in full reimbursement for all our expenses from hotel, restaurants and Uber ride to airport. Even paid for extended parking at airport. $87 investment = over $900 extended vacation. (PS: received check within 3 weeks after claim made). 2
travelplus Posted April 4, 2019 #2 Share Posted April 4, 2019 This is one of the best posts I have read about using Travel Insurance usually its for bad case sbut in your instance you extended your vacation for $87! I would much rather be stuck in 85 degree weather than -5 degrees weather anyday. Glad the bosses understood!
cruisekitty22 Posted May 16, 2019 #3 Share Posted May 16, 2019 We live in CT and always take the insurance. Haven't needed it yet. We are cruising in December 8-13, 2019 from New Orleans on the NCL Getaway and want to make sure we make the flight from CT with no problems! Glad to hear you had a positive experience.
