I need some clarification. Is it free to use the Hub App on board while at sea? I would love to use it for things like buying pictures, and the chat option to keep in contact with family who are  on board. I think the chat is $5, is that per day, and do will we get charged roaming fees?

The hub app is free.  You are charged for the chat feature - $5 per device for the whole cruise using the ships WiFi in airplane mode, so no roaming fees.

The use of the HUB app is free.  You put your phone into airplane mode (reactivate wifi capability) and connect to the ship's wifi, so no cellular use at all (no roaming charges).  If you want to use the chat feature, you purchase that through the app and it is $5 for the entire cruise for each device.

not to use the app. but we purchased and had fun posting pictures for family and friends back home.

As @deedle7544 said, you do not have to purchase the social media wifi package to use the HUB app.  The only cost is if you wish to use the chat feature, which is $5 for the entire cruise.  You do have to connect to the ship's wifi for the app to work, but, again, no charge for that.
