Recent Hotel experiences with transfers from FLL and to Port

We are traveling to FLL in September to cruise on the Allure of the Seas.  In the past we have had both good and bad experiences at various hotels, but have not cruised from FLL in the recent past.  Do you have any recommendations for us?  We are 4 adults, no children and arriving about 6:30 pm the night before our cruise, so a safe, clean and reasonable hotel with easy access to dining.

There are dozens and dozens of threads recommending hotels here. In your situation, something on 17th, like our favorite and frequently recommended Embassy Suites, fits your needs well.

Lots of Hotels in the downtown/17th street area with nearby dining and shopping options and close to the port.  Taxi or UberXL if there's no shuttle will be about $15.
