Has anybody placed another type credit card in the slot to keep things running in the room when you leave?

You can place anything in the light slot to keep the lights on, including a folded piece of paper.

I used my hotel card key from the hotel I stayed in the night before the cruise... our room steward used a folded business card all the time the cruise before that.

I just use an empty gift card and leave it in the slot the whole cruise

Our room steward put his business card in the slot.

We did the same thing and just left it in there all of the time.  The cabin steward left it in there.  We just made sure we turned the lights off when we left the cabin.

Yes, we always turn the lights off, just want our devices be able to charge.
