coevan Posted May 23, 2019 #2 Share Posted May 23, 2019 I believe they are only on Journeys cruises
purplephenom Posted May 23, 2019 #3 Share Posted May 23, 2019 Hopefully you can find a current Fun times to tell you for sure, but if you can't: according to this link, you'll have an 80s rock and glow party https://help.carnival.com.au/app/answers/detail/a_id/69/~/theme-nights-onboard but according to this blog, in 2017 it was a mega deck party on the 3rd night. http://www.embarkandaway.com/carnival-valor-4-day-cruise-review-fun-times.html
Organized Chaos Posted May 23, 2019 #4 Share Posted May 23, 2019 The 80's themed parties we've experienced were always one of the deck parties. I don't think there's any way of knowing which night it would be, or if they have it on your cruise at all, until you get your Fun Times. And these are held on more than just Journeys cruises. We've had them on 5-night and 7-night.
Rare Saint Greg Posted May 23, 2019 #5 Share Posted May 23, 2019 You’ll probably have to find out with someone who has been on Valor recently. On Vista it was the last port day. On Dream it was the 2nd sea day.
maryred Posted May 24, 2019 #6 Share Posted May 24, 2019 As stated it does vary sailing to sailing based on a combination of, which port day the Entertainment Director schedules any deck party, when the Cruise Director has an opening to host, and the head DJ has some one to run the board up on the Lido. Most try to tie the 80's Glo party with the 80's to the Max show if your ship does that production. Deck parties tend to be only 1 hour to 90 minutes long so I would not necessarily call it and 80's night. It's rare to have people dress up in 80's garb for the Glo party on anything but a Journey's cruise which does a whole Throwback to 1987 Seaday (and people dress in 80's clothing for the whole day). Throws and giveaways will be handed out at any deck party to help with the theme.
smurfm69 Posted May 28, 2019 #7 Share Posted May 28, 2019 I was wondering the same thing. We are doing a 4 day cruise on the Valor in November. We just did an 8 day cruise on the Horizon and a lot of people dressed up for the 80's themed deck party. So much fun!
