E-Ticket confusion??

I know I've read many times that e-tickets are available for download about 20 days before departure.

We sail on October 5 (Seaside YC) and made final payment last weekend (a month early) because it fit our planning.  We booked direct with MSC.  This morning I received the invoice showing paid in full - and the email had a link to web check-in.  I thought we were complete, but went in to double check that everything was accurate (it was).

There was a button to request e-tickets be sent by email.  I assumed that it meant they would be emailed at that magical 20 day mark.  Nope - they showed up in my inbox a few minutes later labeled as e-ticket # XXXX for XXX.  Sign this, bring it with you, here are your luggage tags.

Change, quirk, back door or have I been reading bad info?

Booking direct with MSC usually brings your tickets early, same happened after we made our final payment for one of our cruises.

We never get them 'til 21 days at the earliest - even when we book direct (and I do the online check-in long before).
