Entertainment on Caribbean cruise itineraries

We sailed on the Divina several years ago, and enjoyed the entertainment - particularly because it was so different from what other mass market cruise lines offer.

Generally speaking, Can anyone tell me what sort entertainment is offered now?  In the showroom AND in the bar areas?

(Comparisons to Celebrity are especially relevant.  We've been sailing them for the last few years because of the perks.   But now that MSC is offering an all inclusive with alcohol, that changes things.)

Bringing this thread back to the top , hoping that someone can update entertainment on the Caribbean cruises...for us, particularly Divina as we sail her for the first time in December.  Like OP we are long-time Celebrity cruisers and would love to know what's in store on Divina!

Thanks to all who have any insight!

Divinia 2017 and two Seaside this year were similar.  Open night a mix, at least one opera like, rest musical with skits, and last night MJ show.

Thank you for your quick reply. Glad to hear he is personable. Some captains on some of the cruise lines have zero personality and you barely see them.

Anything else you can share about the armonia? We were on the Divina and the seaside and enjoyed both of those. Would love any tips you have for us.

Any dining room tips? How would you rank the food compared to celebrity?

I find the mains not to be as good as other lines, although the prime rib tonight was very good.  There is a casual attitude about enforcing 'rules'.  They seem to be treated as suggestions.  Some people 'dress' every night, others come in cut-off shorts.  None are refused.  Early seating is 6:30 but the table next to us trickles in around 7pm and they are served.  The MDR is split in two parts, separated by an elevator bank.  When you leave the aft part, you have to walk through the forward part to get anywhere.  There is also an elevator bank behind the aft part, and people are always trekking through to get to those elevators, because the ones between the MDR parts only go to deck 9 and the buffet is on deck 11.  Try having breakfast and lunch in the MDR.  Eggs Benedict on a biscuit...  For lunch (sea days) they have a menu but also a salad bar.  The decor is very European, tasteful, subdued.  Lots of lounge areas with comfortable seating.  Have you ever seen a chair or couch that looked comfortable, plopped down on it to discover it hard as a rock?  None of that here.  I think that there is a lot of pool area for a ship this size.  I think this is because Europeans often cruise to get away and relax, don't take shore excursions or go shopping because they have already 'been there, done that'.  They just want to relax around the pool.  EM
