atexsix Posted June 16, 2019 #1 Share Posted June 16, 2019 (edited) Hello, I have a few questions for the partial view stateroom experts please: -I have googled a few reviews of these rooms and it looks like you stare out at ugly lifeboat/tender equipment, I'm assuming there is some type of view though? -Will tender prep wake us at some ungodly hour? -Any problem with noise from the shops below? -I noticed several rooms mid-ship are for crew, and I thought I saw the cruise director coming out of one once while waiting for an elevator; any noise issues since crew come/go at all hours? -I don't get the floor to ceiling window concept, is it for people to be able to see above/below and around the lifeboats? Did you like/dislike it? -Would you consider them to be a good value? What you book these rooms again? Or steer clear? -Anything else important to pass along. Thank you so much, happy Father's Day and happy sailing! (Forgive me if this has already been discussed, I have trouble searching for older threads since they revamped this site, so feel free to link). Many of the reviews were 10 years old too, so some info is no longer relevant, ie. the tv's are all different now I believe. atexsix Posted June 16, 2019 Author #2 Share Posted June 16, 2019 (edited) I finally found some threads, but still a few years old; one had a couple pics and oh my god is all I can say, I think we might be better staring at the wall of an inside! So no need to reply, but I'd still like to hear opinions just for the sake of current discussion. Edited June 16, 2019 by atexsix
wdw1972 Posted June 16, 2019 #3 Share Posted June 16, 2019 If your aim is to have daylight (rather than cruising in a walk-in closet), the obstructed views could work for you. I want a clear, unobstructed view so I won't book one. There shouldn't be any noise from the shops, or even the casino. The music venues are what cause noise if you're above one. RuthC Posted June 16, 2019 #4 Share Posted June 16, 2019 Except for the fact mine had a tub instead of a shower only, I liked the cabin just fine. But then, I am used to having an inside cabin, so the ability to have daylight was nice for a change. I loved how large the windows were! And I also loved the opportunity to check the weather before getting dressed.
High Flyer Posted June 16, 2019 #5 Share Posted June 16, 2019 Just spent 4 weeks in a cat G partial obs. aft of the glass elevators. Will do it again this Dec. Room is quiet. Overhangs keep the sun off the large windows. The boats aft of the glass elevators are used for tendering and some days they are gone so there is a full view. For us,we chose the partially obs rooms just to be able to see the weather and sea state and to save some money. Be advised though that there are some staff working and cleaning the tenders so if that is an issue there are 2 layers of drapes. Some other observations: TV is 40", Temps in the frig (cooler) was 51'3* and the coolest the room got was 59*. ,
