mdd423 Posted June 20, 2019 #1 Share Posted June 20, 2019 (edited) Hello, After we disembark from our cruise on Sunday (10/06/2019) our flights home are not until the evening (5ish). We are looking to do something around FLL until our flights leave. Any suggestions? Edited June 20, 2019 by mdd423
Corby114 Posted June 20, 2019 #2 Share Posted June 20, 2019 Rent a vehicle at FLL and then either drive over to Fort Lauderdale Beach or Hollywood Beach to enjoy a nice lunch and a few drinks. Return to FLL around 2:30 PM to drop off the rental vehicle and check in for your flight home. The minimum twenty four hour rental should cost you less than seventy five dollars. I have done this scenario numerous times when I’m heading back to New Jersey.
teknoge3k Posted June 20, 2019 #3 Share Posted June 20, 2019 I'd take an Uber over to Beach Place and have a good lunch at one of the many restaurants in that area. There's also an Escape Room (Escapeology) there that's super fun. You can hang out at the beach before or after if you want.
JohninDC Posted June 20, 2019 #4 Share Posted June 20, 2019 Store your bags at FLL and then ride the water taxi. Have a boost brunch/lunch and then head back to the airport about 3:
mysparky Posted June 23, 2019 #5 Share Posted June 23, 2019 First is to figure out what to do with your bags, and then you have several options. If your cruise offers a luggage valet service and you're able to take advantage of that, you could get around w/o need of a rental car. Just pick up an uber from the cruiseport and go about your day without worrying about your luggage. If that's not an option, renting a car for the day is a decent option so that you can throw your bags in the trunk. We've usually rented a car from Hertz (free shuttle from cruiseport to an office nearby). Depending upon the season, we've taken a trip to the Gulfstream Casino/race track (about 20 min drive) and spent a few hours there. Definitely fun if the horses are racing. If you're able to ditch your bags but don't have a rental car, take an uber to the beach, rent a lime scooter for 30-60 mins of fun, walk around, get lunch. Or, get a ride to the Las Olas area, walk around and check out stores, take a tour of the Stranahan House, get lunch. As someone has mentioned above, the water taxi is a nice option too. We've never been up for taking a ship tour, but that's an option as well.
Paulinda Posted June 23, 2019 #6 Share Posted June 23, 2019 If you don't wish to rent a car or a day room you can check to see what excursions your cruise line offers. We did an air boat excursion offered by our line. They took us direct from ship to everglades and 4-5 hours later to the airport.
