We also noticed the under utilization of the Spotlight Lounge. In fact, we mentioned it in the survey. Boleros is way too small for karaoke!

Totally agree!  I know there was a large group with the Bronco’s Fan Event. I wondered if they were using the Spotlight Lounge for their events.

I went to Quest and battle of the sexes in the spotlight lounge.

Wish I would I of gone to the Battle of the Sexes. I heard it was really funny!

How's the AC on the ship.  Heard it's been sketchy.  We sail on Enchantment on Monday.

Our stateroom was cool. I know other staterooms were without air for a couple of nights. I believe there were in the lower decks in the aft of the ship. But that issue seemed to be fixed before the end of our sailing.

Day 3 - Costa Maya

Today we knew that we would be docking at 12:00 so we had plenty of time to sleep in.  We turned off the alarms and decided not to try and make it for breakfast in the MDR.

Now something that I like about NCL TV is they have one channel that has a real time video feed off the front of the ship. I like to watch it when we are docking!  But I also turn it on at night with the volume muted. As the sun comes up the stateroom lightens and you naturally wake up.

On RCI these are the tv channels offered. (LOTS of cricket on the week we were there)

We woke in time to get breakfast at the buffet.

I asked a chef what options had milk and the eggs were a no-no. But I found a nice breakfast to get me started.

This is is a picture of the GF buffet.

I find the coffee onboard to not be very tasty!  So with the unlimited deluxe drink package the coffees, special drinks and teas in Latte-tudes are also free. So my husband and I walked by and got an Americano with Soy and my husband got a Tazo Tea to enjoy in the solarium while we waited to dock. He doesn’t drink coffee. I know he’s crazy!

We finally cleared the boat about 12:30ish and started up the pier towards the port. We noticed the water even at the dock was covered with seaweed. This is a problem all over the shoreline. More about this during our excursion.

At this port we get to go back to one of our first cruise stops ever!!  And we had been trying to go back since 2013 because we fell in love with Maya Chan. It is a small all inclusive beach getaway that comes with private seating on beautiful sand with a bed to lounge in as well as an umbrella with two chairs. A buffet and drinks are included. Because we were returning guest we paid $50 pp. We had received two notices from the gentleman that owns and lives on the property that the seaweed was bad and they were no longer able to comb the beach and they would understand if we wanted to cancel our stay with a full refund. We couldn’t imagine not going so here we are walking through the port following this map.

It took us awhile to find our way out of the port to the business to catch the shuttle bus to the property. The port has really grown since our last venture there and since Maya Chan isn’t port owned no one will offer to give any directions. But once there we were told again about the water and sand conditions and agreed to go anyway.

The ride is very bumpy and will take about 20 minutes.

Well just got off the phone with RC customer service......due to the AC issue on the ship, we've been downgraded from Ocean View Room on deck 2 to an interior room on deck 4.  This was a "free" trip through casino royale and we paid for my daughter to come, so RC has refunded most of what we paid for her and gave us a $200 on board credit.  I asked why not upgrade us to a balcony or suite, and I guess they're not booking rooms with AC issues.  Bummed, but at least we're still going.  Just keeping fingers crossed that the new room's AC is working!!!

I am so sorry to hear this!!  At least you will have a cool room!  I’m glad they are comping most of the trip for you and your family. And I know you will have a beautiful time. During our sailing the ship was at capacity and they had nowhere to put people.

Here is a couple of pictures of the site from 2013. It was sad to see what the seaweed had done but hopefully this will stop soon and great service and amazing fresh food was worth our visiting again.

Next to our spot we were about to see a beach wedding. It was so special and amazing. The site offers a secluded place to have the reception also.

After the wedding we had strawberry/mango daiquiris

At this time buffet was open and ready to serve lunch. They offered corn/flour tortillas with chicken, beef, pork or fish tacos.  Rice beans and toppings were included. Freshest food ever!  We finished off our lunch with the special drink of the day Reef Juice and a margarita.

My husband and I both enjoyed massages on the beach. 30 minutes was $25 and 1 hour was $45. We though we had both asked for an hour but mine lasted a lot longer than his.

We spent time back at our spot and knew we wanted to catch the 5:00 shuttle back to the port. Last shuttle would be 5:30. So we packed up and had a final shot of tequila for the road. We hope to be able to come visit again soon when the beach and water is restored to is original beauty.

Back onboard we found cookies and fruit left by the Casino.

We got ready for dinner and went to the casino and deposited more money.  Finally we gave up and found a seat in the centrum until our 8:00 dinner time.

This buffet was REALLY tasty!  And he contacted us before the trip and made sure to have things that were GF and DF for me to eat. Was the seaweed better when you were there?  We hope to go back again soon!

No, the seaweed was very bad when we were there.  There were literally walls of seaweed between us and the water.  The workers were constantly clearing a couple of paths through the seaweed walls for water access.

Wow!  I guess that is what they had stopped clearing. They did have a small dock to walk out to and you could  kayak  out past to clearer water. A couple of young teens did that and said it was perfect past the line.
