Janthere Posted August 16, 2019 #1 Share Posted August 16, 2019 Hello! We are sailing on Solstice Vancouver to Hawaii and are wondering when the casino is open. The first 5 days are sea days so obviously it will be open but once we get to our first port (Kona) does it close while in port? Our next ports are Hilo, overnight in Maui and then Honolulu. Can it be open while in US ports? Sorry if this is a dumb question. Next question is do you have to sign up for the Blue Chip program or does it automatically track you once you start playing? This is our first cruise since we started gambling 🙂 Thanks!
CRUSINGFAMILY Posted August 18, 2019 #2 Share Posted August 18, 2019 You will be tracked as long as you put your sea pass card in the machine you are playing or give the table dealer your card, which they will ask you for anyway. They use your Celebrity Captains club number to track you. We are on Eclipse doing the same itinerary and I am not sure what they are going to do on the overnights whether the casino will be open or not. Remember that playing the machines will give you much more points. Also we were on Eclipse in the spring and as long as you were playing in the casino they were giving you free drinks. Have a great cruise
Janthere Posted August 18, 2019 Author #3 Share Posted August 18, 2019 thanks CruisingFamily We have the drink package so no worries there. Was mainly wondering what hours the casino will be open on this itinerary.
Ma Bell Posted August 18, 2019 #4 Share Posted August 18, 2019 The casino is never open while the ship is in port. In the evenings they go far enough out away from land to open.
Alakegirl Posted August 19, 2019 #5 Share Posted August 19, 2019 Casinos can be open when ships are in port. There have been special arrangements made in the Caribbean when ships overnight in the port and the casinos do stay open. So don’t assert that they are never open in port. Yeah I was surprised to see the casino open on our recent cruise stop in Nassau
dougocam Posted August 19, 2019 #7 Share Posted August 19, 2019 As a reasonably knowledgeable gambler, I can say with certainty that the games in the Solstice casino provide a much larger edge than Vegas norms to the house.

The question is about the Vancouver to Hawaii itinerary, no need to be rude.
dkjretired Posted August 19, 2019 #9 Share Posted August 19, 2019 (edited) I think you will find that the cruises where the casinos are open are those where the ship goes there frequentl even weekly like Bermuda and they pay a fee for the right for them to open. If I'm correct the Vancouver to Hawaii itinerary does it once a year. Edited August 19, 2019 by dkjretired
Rare cruisestitch Posted August 19, 2019 #10 Share Posted August 19, 2019 Very true. But it is incorrect to claim that casinos are NEVER open when a ship is in Port. Celebrity sails to Hawaii often enough that they may have made such arrangements, although I wouldn’t expect to see the casinos open, myself. Ma Bell Posted August 19, 2019 #12 Share Posted August 19, 2019 https://www.lasvegasadvisor.com/question/hawaii-anti-gambling/ As I said, the casino opens when the ship gets far enough out to sea, but not in port. They don't make arrangements to open in port because Hawaii is one of two anti-gambling states.
Janthere Posted August 19, 2019 Author #13 Share Posted August 19, 2019 Ok so when we are cruising between Hilo and Kona for example at night, or between Maui and Oahu etc. your thoughts are that it would be open?
