Hello all! Due to a huge move in our residence and business changes, I have been MIA here at CC this spring/summer. But to make matters easier for everyone, I have opted for link sharing so that anyone and everyone can use the walking tour that I created.

I will try to begin another thread so that people don’t need to search through these many pages of messages to find this info. Happy sailing (and remember that the map is now over a year old since the last edit and changes could have occurred to dining/shopping/roads since. Viva Puerto Rico!

We are there on Thanksgiving. All government buildings and fits will be closed. We get in at 7am and leave at 2pm. I am guessing we will do what what we can on our own, lunch somewhere then back on the ship.

I would think that some of the locations on my walking tour will be open, clearly not all of them. It’s definitely an interesting day to be visiting San Juan!

Where do you get the walking tour from?

It's the tour I had made that has been most of this thread's focus - I did have it where I needed to invite people, that was a lot of work on my part so I made it public.

I added you on to my comment since I was making sure all the people that had posted above you had been able to reach it.  No problem, I see you were just making a general comment on the thread. Have fun.

Were you all able to reach the walking tour? 😊

Thank you so much!  Nice of you to notify all of us as well! I've bookmarked it and look forward to using it (fingers crossed).

I was a little concerned that some people had not followed the thread and may not get a notification. Just didn’t want you to think that I had completely ignored you 😁

@FionaMG  shared this thread with our roll call. A year ago when we booked another San Juan port cruise I decided to do as you are doing and look around for a walking tour. But I didn’t find options that I thought were ideal for us (for example I didn’t need to see both forts set a long distance from one another) and we wanted to mix in some shopping areas and some amazing food finds that I had run across in my research. It seemed to take forever to compile it and lay it out, but I finally pulled together a tour with all we wanted via google maps (I called it the “three amigos take San Juan” 😂). I don’t know that it would fit your needs, but I am happy to share it. Have a great time!

It's been many years since this post, but if you could send me your map, I would really appreciate it!  ram1101@yahoo.com

yes, it has been a minute! So I made it publicly available through Google Maps, let me know if you cannot locate it.

Renee - you are welcomed 😁 I didn’t add in every shop in the shopping sections as  it didn’t make sense to add in every possible options. The couple of options listed are just marking/stop points but are within a shopping area offering many interesting shops. I found adding in too much had the map going in confused loops 😩. There could be lots of interesting side stops, fun finds 😊 Looks like you found one!  The tour lists only what we didn’t want to miss and in a few areas marks a general location that has multiple components not listed (like some of the cemeteries areas up near the fort in the NW tip of San Juan could not be added since the layout made google try to take a crazy route (but it’s off to the side and we will definitely take a peek).

Good they have a man chair - did he has his toy (phone) with him? 🙊

!Note on visiting the cemetery near the fort in the NW point (Cementerio Santa Maria Magdalena de Pazzi)

- I read in multiple places that this has become a place where those seeking to harm others (especially by mugging) frequent. Every city, without exception, has an area that requires taking extra care or even warrants avoidance and San Juan is not different. I think it is easy to see this area from the land nearby without going into the cemetery itself. I felt it was important to make that one note despite the fact that I have no qualms at all regarding PR as a whole and have very positive feelings about the PR people ❤️

Is it still possible to get a copy of this tour? If so please email heidegreen@gmail.com. Many thanks

Hi - because there were so many requests I decided to make it public (most of the options on the tour were still valid on our last trip there earlier this year). The URL is Here is the link 😀  https://www.google.com/maps/d/edit?mid=1YDhiMct1vVrt_lpS_T4zJ_yD3G31SoAL&usp=sharing
