-Lew- Posted September 5, 2019 #1 Share Posted September 5, 2019 Princess has a program called EZCheck where, for a $25pp fee, they check your luggage with your airline and provide boarding passes. Luggage is placed outside your cabin the evening prior to disembarkation with supplied airline luggage tags attached. Luggage is transported to the airport and checked for your flight. Luggage fees, if any, are charged to your shipboard account. It's not offered at all ports, but very handy at those where it is. Does Viking offer a comparable service? Rare Peregrina651 Posted September 6, 2019 #2 Share Posted September 6, 2019 Don't remember hearing about it on any cruise I have been on.
-Lew- Posted September 6, 2019 Author #3 Share Posted September 6, 2019 Thank you. Too bad as it's a welcome service on a hectic day at the end of a cruise.
philw1776 Posted September 6, 2019 #4 Share Posted September 6, 2019 Just finished a Viking cruise and have both a river & ocean cruise booked with Viking. As yet, no such service offered.
lackcreativity Posted September 6, 2019 #5 Share Posted September 6, 2019 Now it is not the exact same level of service, but you do place your checked bags outside your stateroom before departure, catch up with it later in the designated spot and identify it before they load it on your bus to the airport. At some airports, we have also had Viking staff load all the luggage from the bus on large carts at the airport and take it in to your airport check-in location. You still have to handle your carry on, and do the actual airport check-in, but they were most helpful in the process.
Krisval Posted September 7, 2019 #6 Share Posted September 7, 2019 Agree with lackcreativity, night before you disembark you tag your luggage with tags provided Viking (coded by color for loading into appropriate bus), unloaded at the airport at the terminal for you flight. You take your luggage in, check it, and get boarding pass, if you don’t already have it. We’ve had some great assistance at the airport- Viking staff in the terminal directing people to the appropriate area for check in, assisting with tags, everything up to the point where you go through security.
