Luggage tags for guarantee

We have a guarantee and thus don’t have a cabin assigned yet. If we have to wait til embarkation day and there is no cabin number, do we keep our luggage with us upon arrival at the pier?

or do they take it without a cabin number?

This is is our first time with a guarantee.

Thanks

The porters at the pier have a list of passengers and will be happy to attach a generic Tag to your check in luggage and then mark the correct stateroom number to it.

Good to know,thanks!

Or you can print tags without a number and you or a porter can write it in.  Odds are high that you will learn the number before arriving at the pier, as most assignments are done 14 to 7 days out. We've done 9 GTYs and 7 were assigned 11 or 10 days out.

I see you already got your answer, but for further assurance, I just ran across this on HAL’s FAQ:

Q — I have opted for a guarantee stateroom. When will my Express Docs show a stateroom number?
A — Guarantee staterooms may be assigned at any time prior to travel and up until embarkation day. Express Docs will show a stateroom number if it has been assigned but will otherwise show \"To be assigned\". If you have printed your Express Docs prior to the stateroom assignment, you may wish to check back prior to departure to see if a stateroom has been assigned. Otherwise, there will be staff available at the pier to advise you of your stateroom number as you fill out your luggage tags.

Thanks..I found this on HAL as well after I posted.  We got our guarantee assignment 2 days before sail so was able to print my luggage tags with cabin number.

Is the FAQ answer referring to HAL staff?  Porters on shore are not HAL staff, right?  Is there normally HAL staff where you hand off your luggage?
