Escape - NY Dept - Statue of Liberty

Hi there,

 

I am sailing out on the Escape on Sunday the 29th from NY...

 

I wanted to know if anyone has any good recommendations for where to be (what deck, fwd or aft) while we are sailing by the Lady Liberty / Bridge / Sky line.

 

We are in a balcony room but on port side so I'm not sure if that is the side we will be passing her on.

Ship goes south.  Manhattan to the East.  Statute of Liberty to the West.

 

Top decks are the best.

Statue is to starboard on departure. View is the same from topside or a starboard balcony.  Topside is more interesting for passage under the Verazzano Narrows Bridge.

Please don't forget that the sail past Manhattan -- which will be on the port side during sailaway --- is absolutely spectacular.   Then you have the Statue of Liberty, and then the Verrazzano.   The best place to be when sailing away from the Manhattan Cruise Terminal imho is on a high, open deck where you can move around.

Immediately (moving before the Captain utters the word “complete”) after muster, we move very quickly forward and up to the forward facing rail on Deck 19. Great views of Manhattan, ok views of SOL and great views of the bridge.

Waterfront on deck 8 is a good place to view the Statue of Liberty. The bridge is best viewed forward and as high as you can get.

My point about muster was that there will be a lot of other people with the same idea. Don’t stop for a drink. Don’t stop to pee. Don’t stop at your cabin. Head up on deck and stake your claim on prime viewing space.
