Pigeon Island Beach and Castries town center

Recommended Posts

The ship was docked at La Place Carenage, right in the middle of the town center. Taxi to Pigeon Island Beach, located 14 km (9 miles) north of La Place Carenage. This beach is very quiet, making it the perfect spot for a relaxing beach day. Snorkeling is possible but there aren’t many colorful fish to see. Renting sunbeds is possible. Taxi back to Castries. Stroll in the town center of Castries. Visit to the Central Market for souvenirs, spices and tropical fruits and vegetables. The town itself wasn’t a highlight with the cracked pavements and dusty buildings but there are a few builidings worth a visit. The cathedral of the Immaculate Conceptionis one of the oldest on the island and considered the largest in the Caribbean. The Central Library is a beautiful historic building and a landmark in the political history of the city.
