Hopefully this will help you in planning or give you ideas of what to expect or see . Thank you. We're not traveling quite the same path but love your photos. Iguazu Falls prior to our cruise and after 3 nights in Santiago; we'll be heading to the Atacama Desert for another 3 nights. Was hoping to do some great star gazing but found it is the time close to the full moon. No matter ~ will be fun and hope we can find where we're going when we pick up the car! Rare scubacruiserx2 Posted October 21, 2019 Author #54 Share Posted October 21, 2019 (edited) Well thank you . It's great that you're getting out there and seeing a lot . Iguazu Falls and Machu Picchu are probably the most common places to visit besides Santiago and Buenos Aires . Our son and DIL ( she's Peruvian ) went to the desert the last time they were in Peru and loved it . We crave the cooler weather to visit since it's warm here so often and loved some of the unique beauty in the mountainous area so different to us Florida flatlanders . Have you made plans for Punta Arenas ? Edited October 21, 2019 by scubacruiserx2

Rare scubacruiserx2 Posted October 23, 2019 Author #61 Share Posted October 23, 2019 (edited) After breakfast and picking up a box lunch we were ready to head out to The Lonely Planet's # 1 pick in Argentina - Perito Moreno Glacier . It about an hours ride from the hotel to the entrance There are a number of catwalks to get you down to the glacier face . Rare scubacruiserx2 Posted October 23, 2019 Author #63 Share Posted October 23, 2019 It's hard to tell how large the glacier is from the photos but it's about 3 miles wide , 240 feet tall and about 19 miles long . There are different colors on the glacier white , black , light blue and a dark blue that we had never seen before

Rare scubacruiserx2 Posted October 23, 2019 Author #65 Share Posted October 23, 2019 We saw the water bubbling near the glacier and this huge chunk of ice floated to the surface . The next day we asked the guide on a glacier cruise about the dark color and he said that it frozen salt water and the lighter color was fresh water . It's hard to measure the scale of the ice chunk until we saw a boat next to it . It was leaning a lot as all of the people rain to one side . We did see more calving here because we stayed longer here , but this glacier is advancing instead of retreating . Our video clip of calving :

Rare scubacruiserx2 Posted October 24, 2019 Author #71 Share Posted October 24, 2019 The trip to Puerto Bandera is the same way as to Perito Moreno only you turn right instead of left . It takes about 40 minutes by car . The door to the smaller private area aft has a map of the trip . The door knob is where we begin our cruise . Eight of us sat at the dining table .You can see our camera bags at the bench where we sat . The first offering was the carb course .
