oceantriumph Posted December 1, 2019 #1 Share Posted December 1, 2019 For anyone whose been to these ports, I'd appreciate some suggestions for best excursions for a family of 5 ranging from 20-50 in age who will likely not have a chance to return to these places: Costa Maya, Mexico Belize City, Belize Isla de Roatan, Honduras

We had a good trip to Chachobben ruins for half of what MSC were charging. Google the name. Ken

In case you can't find the Caribbean Ports of Call boards go to: https://boards.cruisecritic.com/forum/456-caribbean/ and chose by country. TripAdvisor is also a good reference. It isn't working because I didn't post a link, just a suggestion to go to the POC boards here on CC. EM
EMc&DrS Posted December 2, 2019 #6 Share Posted December 2, 2019 Just got back from this cruise yesterday. Highly recommend spending your day in Costa Maya at Maya Chan. Just google it to find out details. They take great care of you there, and it's all included in the cost, including transportation. The food is delicious and the drinks never stop. Run by an American--very safe. We went to Goff's Cay in Belize. Had been there before and loved it--not impressed this time. If you choose one day to stay onboard, this might be the day. We had to tender to the port--which took 30 minutes from getting onto the tender, getting over there, waiting to get off. Then onto another boat to go right back out past the ship and on to Goff's Cay. Very bumpy ride--and 30 minutes of it to get there. One man was just about to be sick. Very rocky beach now--used to be sandy. We booked a catamaran/snorkeling trip through our travel agency--Roger's Cat Cruises. It ended up being the two of us with one other couple and a crew of 4. We had a really good time with a good mix of sailing, guided snorkeling, and time to swim. The driver met us outside the gate and took us to the catamaran. slei15 Posted December 2, 2019 #8 Share Posted December 2, 2019 For Belize, I highly recommend cavetubing.bz. They offer cavetubing, ziplining, and ATV rides, in any combination, or any of them individually. I have used them twice and will be again in March. Very reasonable (cost dependent on season, in March we are paying $55/person for cave tubing and ziplining with lunch and transportation). In Costa Maya, we usually take the tram to the beach and head over to the Krazy Lobster. Good food, cheap drinks, and $20-30 for an hour long massage on the beach. Not the most sanitary massage ever, but can't beat the price! If you like water parks and ziplining, the Mayan Kingdom Adventure Park in Costa Maya is also great. It is the one excursion that is actually cheaper to book through MSC than on your own.

Cheyshe Posted January 10, 2020 #10 Share Posted January 10, 2020 I loved the coral garden shark and stingray alley snorkeling adventure. I booked through viator and it was $70.00. Well worth the money.
