jancl57 Posted December 16, 2019 #1 Share Posted December 16, 2019 We will be sailing on the Pearl on the 5 day Western Caribbean cruise. Have never been to either island. Looking for recommendations for outside shore excursion companies. Has anyone used Shore Trips? We are interested in a laid back excursion. Beach day inclusive of drinks and lunch. Thanks! Rare ColeThornton Posted December 16, 2019 #2 Share Posted December 16, 2019 Here's a couple of links to the Port of Call forums for those stops. Tons of information about tours and excursions for you to peruse. Enjoy. https://boards.cruisecritic.com/forum/102-costa-maya/ https://boards.cruisecritic.com/forum/65-belize/

Rare lepidoptera Posted December 17, 2019 #5 Share Posted December 17, 2019 I agree with everyone saying Maya Chan. If they are sold out I’d probably just go to a beach bar in Mahahual. Alternatively if you are a history buff, there are excursions to different Mayan Ruinsyou could do. Just a warning since you’ve never been the port at Coasta Maya is a labyrinth and it is difficult to get out of the port and difficult to get back to the ship! The stop in Belize is at Harvest Caye which is “private island” of NCL. However due to an agreement between NCL and Belize’s government, food and drink is not provided by the cruise line but by private companies-it is very expensive. The island has an enormous pool with lots of seating especially when you are there on one of the smaller ships, there is also a beach but I didn’t love it when I checked it out last year. I’d probably wander around and swim a little in the pool, and once I was hungry I’d walk down the long, long (seriously the longest) pier back to the ship for lunch. I would probably check out NCL’s excursions if I really wanted to do an excursion and not have just an beach day-to get to any private tour operators you have to take a ferry to the main land.
