Scooter in the Casino

I’ve reached the point where I can no longer handle the walking involved with cruising. I was ready to give it up until the wife talked me into a scooter. I spend a lot of time in the casino on board. My question to those that used scooters is do you somehow maneuver up to the slots or is there some place you can park while in the casino?  Found out the cruise I booked is a premier and know the casino can get awful crowded.

I have seen scooters parked next to the slot machines.  I think it would be okay as long as you are not in the path of people traipsing through the casino to get to other parts of the ship.  Seems like a lot of ships route people through the casino.  EM

On my review of the New Royal Princess recently I wrote:

CASINO

With a mobility scooter, wheelchair or walker there were big problems.  The slot machines lined up against the starboard wall were totally inaccessible due to the position of the gaming tables and the fact that there were posts in the way next to the slot machines.

A few other machines were back to back under the stairway that leads up to deck 7 so they are not accessible since there is no room to maneuver a scooter or wheelchair in front of them.  The few that were backed up to the wall coming from the atrium are also inaccessible, due to the fact that if a guest with a scooter parks in front of them, then the ONLY path thru the casino is being blocked for someone to walk.

We found that the path thru the casino is so narrow that it is necessary for a either the guest with the scooter or the walking guest to pass.  In order words, the guest with the scooter would have to wait for the guest coming in the other direction to pass before proceeding thru.

We are in the casino on every cruise we take.   My husband has the scooter and he decides which machine he wants and if he can't get right up to it with the scooter, he gets as close as he can, gets off the scooter and walks to the machine.    I then drive his scooter to a nearby area where it can be parked.    There are no designated scooter spots so we just park it in the best spot nearby.  So depending on how the casino is set up determines on how close you can get to your machine (s ).   We always go in the morning so there aren't as many people.   What ship are you going to be on?

It really depends on the ship you are on. Royals Quantum class is very scooter accessible. We've been on the Anthem 7 times already and have another in 3 days and one next month. You do have to pick your time as has been mentioned already.

The worst problem was on the Royal Princess  (a new ship).  We will be on the Star Princess in April and I don't remember having a problem in the past with the older Princes ships nor any problem on Carnival ships

Not to be rude, but how does this comment add any value to the conversation?

Your right, your comment does come across as rude. The question of what ship I will be on was asked in a prior post. Thank you for the effort of your snarky remark. Try a Snickers bar.

I've taken my scooter on the Pride 4 times and use it in the casino all of the time. While DH is playing Blackjack I'm usually on a slot machine. I roll up to the machine (mostly on the end of a row), get as close as possible so as not to block anyone from walking by, slide off and sit in front of the machine. No problem. If I play Blackjack, and I can take the seat beside DH, I park closely behind our seats, again, not blocking anyone. It can get crowded, so I just take my time and I've never had a problem.

i have been on many a cruise and find no problem in the casino. most people are okay with someone on a scooter. you can park the scooter on the end of a row of machines where there is room. or if you want to just bring it up to the machine.  people are not usually that rude. and if they are....oh well.
