Explorer boarding time from Miami on Friday?

Hi all,

 

I'm going to drop the family off at the port and then return car to MIA and grab the shuttle.

 

Departure time is 5:00.  SetSailPass says check in is 12:00 - 4:00.  When do you expect boarding to begin?

Not sure where you will be coming from, but traffic in Miami and the port area can be pretty bad in the mornings.  I would try to drop your family off by 9, so that you could be happy with that at 10, be at the airport at 11, and get back to the ship by 1.  Last month, we were stuck in traffic for an hour and a half.

We're flying in very early in the morning and then spending some time at South Pointe Park on Miami beach.

We are just on the Explorer and we boarded about 11:00am. I am sure it can vary but thought I would share our experience.

Hopefully minimal waiting for the family and gives me lots of time to return the car.

Boarded the Explorer on Dec 27th got to the Terminal at about 10:30 took about 1 min to check-in but we did have to wait till about 11am before they started to board the ship.  We dropped the rental car off at MIA and the whole family took the shuttle to the port we were the only ones on the shuttle 🙂  We only had to wait about 5 min for the shuttle to leave from MIA.
