Markanddonna Posted January 20, 2020 #2 Share Posted January 20, 2020 I was on a cruise last month and visited Pompeii. Do it yourself. We took the City Sightseeing Bus which has one that goes directly to Pompeii. It dropped us off at the ticketing area. We used Rick Steves' audio app and also ripped out the section on the self guided tour from an old 2012 Rick Steves' book. The bus have us three hours, which was plenty. The cost was 30 euros total for the ticket and bus pp .Easy peasy.
Mrs Soap Posted January 20, 2020 Author #3 Share Posted January 20, 2020 Thanks so much for your reply, sometimes we look at doing excursions on our own but what worries us with this one is the time we are in port.... docks at 1pm and leaves at 8pm.....not much room for error
Rare BermudaBound2014 Posted January 20, 2020 #4 Share Posted January 20, 2020 If you haven't been to the Almfia Coast, I think Sorrento is a must see.

Markanddonna Posted January 22, 2020 #6 Share Posted January 22, 2020 You could easily do Pompeii as I described.
JohnJayJotaJames Posted January 22, 2020 #7 Share Posted January 22, 2020 We did the Pompeii MSC tour and enjoyed it, but. Our group was rather large and the headsets didn't work very well so we tried standing close to our guide. When she started moving she was rather fast on the cobblestones! Husband wanted to take photos so we almost lost our group several times. At the end we totally lost our group but luckily could remember how to find the meeting point! The Amalfi coast is amazing and the tour will probably stop along the way at some of the neat little villages. Be sure to get some lemon-cello!
