Carnival Hub App and Wifi

I have downloaded the Carnival Hub App for our upcoming Horizon cruise, but have some questions.  The app states there is wifi that can be logged into on the ship.  Does this work well?  Where is it available on the ship (assuming common areas)?  Will I be able to log into the wifi to send messages, check Facebook, post pictures, etc.  Thanks so much for any information you can share and happy sailing!!

The Carnival Hub app does work off of the ship's wifi, but you do not need to purchase one of the internet plans for the Hub app to work. To use the Hub app onboard the ship, just open it when you get onboard and click on "I'm Onboard." It'll instruct you how to connect to the ship's wifi and you'll have to login to the Hub app with your folio number (found on your S&S card) and your birth date. Once logged into Hub, you can use all of the features. It also has a chat feature that allows you to chat with anyone on the ship who also uses the chat. That's $5 for each device (for the entire cruise). You can read about the Hub app here: https://www.carnival.com/help/6005

Then there are the internet plans: Social, Value, and Premium. The Social plan lets you use social media websites and apps, plus some of the more popular messaging apps, like facebook messenger, whatsapp, and snapchat. The Value plan also adds the ability to check email and most other websites on the internet. It is also meant to be a faster service than the Social plan. Finally, the Premium plan is meant to be the fastest service. On the Horizon, it also supports streaming Netflix. You can read about the internet plans here: https://www.carnival.com/help/1152

The Horizon is one of the ships with Carnival's most updated internet services. Wifi signal should be quite good all throughout the ship, including in your cabin (with some dead spots here & there). Internet speeds and quality can vary based on the amount of traffic using it at any given time, but on Horizon, it should do better than older ships.

Thank you both!  The $5 chat feature sounds like a great way to keep my group in touch!

It's a good, cheap option, just beware that the Hub chat isn't always the most reliable messaging service. A lot of reports of sporadic service. More than likely it'll be pretty good on the Horizon, but just know that there could be times when messages are delayed or not received at all. Also, if you're going to use the chat, be sure not to close out the app. Leave it running in the background on your phone. Otherwise, messages won't go through at all until the app is started again.
