Where in New Zealand was Xena the Warrior princess filmed?

Are there tours of the Xena studio? any tours of the places it was  filmed??

Not that I know of . The series was filmed in Auckland  .Locations included Bethells Beach ,Muriwai Beach  and Piha Beach ,all rugged black sand beaches with wild surf  and also in the Waitakere ranges The sets were built in a valley that was a Lion Safari Park , and will very soon be covered with suburban housing in West Auckland . Other sets were in Henderson but the studios are  busy filming new productions now . Lord of the Rings TV series is getting underway. 
A location scout spent a whole day on our farm at one stage ,but it wasn’t considered suitable . 
Although it was filmed  here , I don’t think “locals” realise how popular the Xena series was overseas .

Some of the smaller tour  operators have tours out that way .Look for tours that have the above beaches included .

Xena was some of the earlier special effects and film manufacture (costumes, weapons, make up) work done by Weta Workshop. If your cruise is visiting Wellington, a Weta Workshop behind the scenes tour would take you back to some of those early days and also the work they're doing now on products like the upcoming Avatar movies, Pete's Dragon, Narnia, Thunderbirds .. even Power Rangers!
