ma23peas Posted February 20, 2020 #1 Share Posted February 20, 2020 My friend wants to take his 21 year old daughter on a cruise for her graduation. She would like to do a river cruise or explore Europe...he would like to do a Mediterranean cruise and explore the southern countries. I know them both very well enough to know they'd both be happy with either. They can travel in late August. Are there specific lines or itineraries that might offer more for her age, but also offer something for him? I'm trying to help him navigate this- I've sailed the Mediterranean and traveled Europe- but don't know much about river cruises and worry that may not be as much fun for someone her age, but I'm sure I'm wrong :) Thanks! SbbquilterUT Posted February 20, 2020 #2 Share Posted February 20, 2020 That depends totally on the young lady - my sons would have enjoyed either at that age. Med on a large ship will be very busy but will have nightlife on board if she wants that. We loved the river cruise experience for the busy walking tour days and more relaxed evenings as family time. ldubs Posted February 20, 2020 #3 Share Posted February 20, 2020 Because a Med cruise will have options to be as sedate or as active as desired, it would be most appealing for everyone. I would vote in that direction.
pseudoware Posted February 20, 2020 #4 Share Posted February 20, 2020 Definitely the Med cruise on a large, floating amusement park. A night or two in Barcelona pre/post-cruise would be a nice bonus.

Rare Essiesmom Posted February 20, 2020 #6 Share Posted February 20, 2020 She has expressed a desire for the river cruise. The trip is for her. Find out why she wants a river cruise, then decide. EM

Perhaps she prefers to see the centres of civilisation dating back to the time when river travel was the only way to go, rather than just a few ports at the edge of a land mass.
