Resort day Mazatlan and Puerto Vallarta

We are going on the Royal Princess in April. We want to do an excursion to resorts in Mazatlan and Puerto Vallarta. Which resorts is Princess currently using?

Puerta Vallarta is the Hyatt Zeva and it is great

Non Princess but a great deal last year at the Costo De Oro in Mazatlan.  We walked to the Malecon, strolled a bit and then took a Pulmonia to the resort.  For what we spent to use the pool and facilities, we got back in free food and drink.

In January they were using the Hyatt Ziva in Puerto Vallarta. We will be there again next week.  Will post again if there has been any change.

In PV go to the Marriott resort. Short taxi. It’s about $35 per person for towels, lounges, umbrella. Fantastic pool. Can also sit in enclosed beach area. 90% of mi yes can be used for good and drinks. We have done it 4 times.

Having never been to either Mazatlan or Puerto Vallarta, any suggestions for beach time there? Should we book a resort? If so, can we do it there or only before we embark? Are the public beaches crowded? Clean? Safe? We are sailing on Royal Princess in March. Obviously a Mexican Riviera Newbie, so any tips are appreciated!
