Wallbanger Posted March 12, 2020 #1 Share Posted March 12, 2020 I am curious if anyone has ever done this. Is it possible to upgrade after boarding. I am leaving on the Vista this Saturday with a $400 interior room with a window. I have $400 in OBC and $500 in the casino. With all the cancellations there seems to be quite a few balcony and OV rooms available and I am wondering if I can upgrade for a small amount without giving up my OBC and casino credit. I realize this an unusual situation and people probably have not had such an opportunity in the past but thought someone might know of the possibilities. I contacted Carnival by phone but all they could allow was current offers I have available which is less than what I booked.
meanjean80 Posted March 12, 2020 #2 Share Posted March 12, 2020 From what I have heard Carnival is not allowing room upgrades on board, because crew has been assigned and been sanitizing according to booked rooms. I think you can try to upgrade by phone ahead of time...but good luck getting through.
adventuredancer Posted March 12, 2020 #3 Share Posted March 12, 2020 my mom tried once a few years ago. she was told no because of allocation of muster stations and staff, etc. she figured it was like a hotel.
OMGOMGOMG Posted March 12, 2020 #4 Share Posted March 12, 2020 Unlikely. CCL sales does upgrade attempts prior to the cruise in order to open up cheaper lower category rooms that have a lower room rate that would sell easier than a higher room rate. Pretty much every cabin in our April group cruise got an offer this week to upgrade from a balcony to an extended balcony room for like $10 total. Purvis1231 Posted March 13, 2020 #5 Share Posted March 13, 2020 Hey, it is a new day with all the virus stuff so give it a try. I know of people who have been changed to another cabin after boarding. Good lucky and have a great time.
