B2B Luggage Question?

We've never done a b2b cruise, but decided to try one next year on Carnival.  We were not able to book the same cabin, so we have to switch cabins after the first cruise.  Both cabins are guarantee, so no idea if they will even be close.

My question is:  Do we have to lug the luggage off the ship after the first cruise and re enter with our luggage, or does Carnival have a policy that allows us to leave our luggage on board and they move it to the new assigned cabin?  I know we have to re board, but hoping that we don't have to deal with the luggage.

Thanks in advance for any information.

From my experience, while on your first cruise, if you tell your cabin steward that you're a B2B passenger, he will arrange to have your luggage moved to the new stateroom for you after the first cruise is completed.

While you can leave your luggage on board, you physically will have to disembark and present yourself to Customs before you are allowed to continue with the second cruise.

Did our first b2b in January, it worked really well. The night before debark, we got a letter from guest services explaining the process. We were to leave our luggage in the room (we had different rooms too), tell your steward where to move you, and meet in the lobby by 8:30. We had breakfast then went down to the lobby. Soon as we sat down, someone from guest services came and checked us in and any others who were b2b. Told us we had to wait till the ship was cleared. Was fun watching all those people getting off! Finally got the ship cleared then the guest services guy got us all (there were only 5), took us off the ship to customs where they checked passports. We had already gotten our new s&s cards while waiting to get off. Once we all cleared we went right back on board to the lobby, we were invited to have champagne and had a group photo then we could go to our new rooms. Was weird being the only ones on board. The whole process went really well. That was on the Liberty. Actually booked another one b2b yesterday if we ever get to sail again!  Only thing different will be we have the same room so won’t have to pack to move. Hope this answered All your questions, and feel free to ask any others. Happy cruising!

Thanks Bostwick Girl and Garnett!  Almost sounds fun!

Were you actually able to get off the ship as if it was a port of call and just board the ship later in the day?

A year away, no reason you can't get the same cabin. How are you researching? You need a good T.A. or a PVP and you will get the same cabin

Ya know, same question I asked!  Not a year away......but in Nov.  Booked directly thru Carnival and unless I upgraded several categories , they couldn't find a cabin.  Didn't want to spend the extra money, so we booked guaranteed balcony cabins.

We didn’t, but I understand you can. Guest services should be able to help you. Also look under the frequently asked questions about back to backs, that’s where I found most of the information.

You can get off the ship as if it is a port of call if you want.  Part of the documentation they give you the night before your first cruise ends is a (for a lack of a better term) "terminal pass" that identifies you as a B2B passenger and allows you to circumvent the lines of the new passengers trying to get on the ship.  Of course, you have to go through security again, but you do get to walk past a lot of people potentially (depending upon when you reboard the ship).

Thanks to both you and Bostwick Girl for the information.  The insight is greatly appreciated!

I did my first B2B in February out of Baltimore on the Pride.  I had the same room so I didn't have to pack but everything else they mentioned is true but I would like to add a couple of things

They offer Champagne but you can get whatever  you like really.  I prefer Beer to bubbles and they easily accommodated my request and my IPA preference as well..  Two others that were in the group didn't drink alcohol so they request sparking water.

They also give you a B2B picture with all the folks that are staying on.  It was nice a couple of days into sailing 2 I had two very nice complimentary pictures of the group including a nice Carnival B2B backdrop.

You have your choice of going off and right back on - That took the five of us all of 7 or 8 minutes.  Or as others stated you can do some shopping whatever at Port and then board later.

I had a fantastic time and I look forward to doing a B2B again once the crazy situation we are in right now is resolved.

Hoping everyone is staying well and practicing social distancing

The OP said both cabins were guarantees, which would explain why they don’t have cabin assignments yet. Personally I would not do a B2B if I didn’t have the same cabin for both cruises, but that is a personal preference.

Greetings!  It seems your question has been answered already, most by kind people, but I thought I would share my persona experience.  I have done a couple of B2B cruises, and relay enjoyed the experience.  Usually I try to boo the same cabin, but once Had to change cabins.  It was SO easy!  Now my new cabin was just a few doors down (and yours might be also...with the GTD you will see)   The morning the first cruise ended, the stateroom Steward cn with s luggage cart, placed the items hanging in the cupboard onto the trolly and moved to the new room, then came back and gathered the items from the drawers and bathroom and set everything up for us.  Now, we had the same cabin Steward, o he was familiar with our routine. Things might be different if two (2) Stewardsare involved, but the crew seems to work well together as a team.  It was so relaxed for us that morning. We enjoyed a leisurely breakfast in the MDR (something we usually bypass the getting off the ship to go home)...then moved onto one of the lounge and enjoyed the coffee set up there watching the other passengers disembark.  Then we went to our new stateroom and relaxed, hanging out on the balcony agin people watching.  About 10:30 we went to the lobby bar here we were told to gather with the handful of other B2B passengers.  We were escorted off the ship, through customs (a special agent handles us as a group), then back on wherewereceived our new Sail-And-Sign card, then wewerefree to do as we please. Being the first now passengers on board, we enjoyed watching the new arrivals filter in.  The last one I did was a few years back...we did  not receive the glass of champagne orpicure I hear people chat about now, but it was still a fun morning!  I have since tried twice to do another, but Hurricane Harvey and a medical issue  spoiled the first leg...but recently booked one for this coming December!  One thing I really enjoy about the B2B experience is that final night of the first leg, when most people ar a bit down due to their holiday coming to an end.  They are busy packing, getting to bed early for an early morning departure.  One has the ship to themselves....lovey to stroll on deck, gaze at the sea, make nice nice with the bartenders as they are not as busy.  Enjoy your    holiday and do not sure. It will be fine. Cheers mate!
