Just want to say hello and hope we all have a blast!!:D
stowawaykc Posted February 25, 2006 Author #29 Share Posted February 25, 2006 Thanks Josh! I thought we did well with our $449.00 pp.(inside, cat 1) Maybe next time we will wait a little longer to book.We booked guarenteed, didn't know where we might end up. We were just assigned a cat 7 oceanview, so I really can't complain. At this price, I would have been happy to sleep in a deck lounger for a week.:) Welcome bound4somewhere! Less than 1 month to go! Looking forward to having a blast! Any day away from work is a GREAT day! Kurt

Twin's Posted February 26, 2006 #31 Share Posted February 26, 2006 This is the best darn site I have found so far about all ships with costa but, of course, I am most interested in Magica 3/26/06.:D :D Time is marching on. My twin is sewing up outfits, playing with toga ideas; I'm busy laying stuff out making lists. We can hardly wait. Anyway, check out this site. It's a great one. http://www.costacruise.com/B2C/USA/Shopping/Ships/MG/default.htm Sharon & Karen
wardidaho Posted February 26, 2006 #32 Share Posted February 26, 2006 It's great to finally see some more action for our sailing! We're from Idaho where it's feeling like spring this weekend - but there's plenty of winter left to come  It makes the anticipation for the cruise that much greater! I've also started the packing process - for the kids mainly. I got a steal of a deal ($10) on a used tux on e-bay for our son :D It's a hard time of year to plan for all the summer attire  Has anyone received their cruise documents from Costa yet? We haven't. Have a great day! Deanna & gang
Twin's Posted February 26, 2006 #33 Share Posted February 26, 2006 Glad to have you non board Deanna & Gang. Sounds like a great trip. I have a question for anyone. Are there coffee pots in the cabin rooms? I really need my Canadian coffee! Sharon & Karen
makins77 Posted February 27, 2006 #34 Share Posted February 27, 2006 Hi there cruisemates. We are the Makins family from Tennessee, GO VOLS!!!!!!!! We are sons Jericho (11), Jordan (9), Lori (mom) and dad, Ken. We first cruised Costa last year on the Mediterranea and had a wonderful vacation. We can't wait for the 24th, we are arriving a couple days early to see a bit around Ft. Lauderdale pre-cruise. The 24th is Loris b-day and our 13th anniversary is the middle of April, so we have a lot to celebrate. We can't wait to get back to Cozumel, Lori would move there in a heartbeat if possible. One quick comment, don't plan much in Key West as our time there is so short, but the Sloppy Fries at Sloppy Joes is a must. Dunns River Falls is beautiful in Ocho and you have to stop by Margaritaville. But be very careful, I have a couple of tattoos and i don't know if that had anything to do with it or not but it seemed everytime I turned around someone was telling me if i needed "ANYTHING" just let them know. Thats kool but they weren't talking about your average souviners. But in all most people were not that way, just watch for those that are. Swim with the rays in Caymans if you can and if the accrobat couple from Europe, Russia maybe, is on board, catch that show it is amazing. Hope to see you onboard and we all have a great vacation. Twin's Posted February 27, 2006 #37 Share Posted February 27, 2006 We are still very excited about our trip. Our married children, who are all in their late 20's, which they could join us but they all have to work. Oh well ---- we will bring them T-shirts if we get time;) Our dear, dear husbands :) are not into cruises - Oh well - we will bring them T-Shirts too. stowawaykc Posted February 28, 2006 Author #38 Share Posted February 28, 2006 Welcome Makins family! Twins, I know what you mean about not having the extended family along. We are "roughing" it without our 4 kids (ages 9,12,12 &15) for this week:rolleyes: Jordan, It's cold here too (teens) in Ohio, but that will just make the tropical weather that much better. Can't wait! Josh, come on, You are welcome to switch! But you gotta tell me, is it the K-9 cruise thing? Whats up with that? Deanna, We have not received our docs yet either, We found our cabin assignment on the Costa site, but are still waiting for the e-mailed documents. We booked through a TA, Costa said they send them to the TA first, then the TA will e-mail them to us. I would like to have them now. Don't want any last minute surprizes. Did anybody get theirs in the mail yet? It's getting closer! We should plan to all meet on board so that we can put faces to these names. I already feel like we have friends going with us.:) Way to keep the thread going! Kurt
JoshGrrrr Posted February 28, 2006 #39 Share Posted February 28, 2006 Josh, come on, You are welcome to switch! But you gotta tell me, is it the K-9 cruise thing? Whats up with that? It isn't the K-9 cruise at all. I may actually enjoy that. I am a big time dog lover. I want to change due to the fact that I can get an ocean view on the Magica for less than my inside cabin on the Mediterranea. The Magica also seems to be more popular, and the ship is newer. Do you really think they will let me change ships without charging me any type of fee?
Twin's Posted February 28, 2006 #40 Share Posted February 28, 2006 What are you talking K-9 thing? Karen, my twin, is a huge dog lover. She has a yellow lab, Barnabas, who weights 110 lbs. His head is the size of a bear's head! The problem I have is Barnabas actually thinks he is a lap dog!! Karen gets him to "sing", lift his left foot and right foot, wipe his feet, bring specific items to her; swim with her - she is definately a dog lover. Also, her one daughter has a husky and her other daughter has a pug, so dog loving must run in her family. Anyway, it is cold here today. -29C to -33C. That is some cold - even for the southern Ontario area. We have a great deal of snow. Yes, lets do a meet and greet. :) What about after the muster on the second day on the top deck. Anyone else have a suggestion - will it be too windy on the top deck?
JPhotoz Posted February 28, 2006 #41 Share Posted February 28, 2006 It is 75 degrees on the ship right now if I converted from C correctly. That is without the sun up. Can't wait. Jordan
Twin's Posted February 28, 2006 #42 Share Posted February 28, 2006 Wow! We can't wait either. I have bben following the temp for the last week and charting it three times a day. The weather has been great. It ranges from 64F at 7AM in Ft. Lauderdale to 92F in Coxumel at 12 noon. The average temp seems to be around 75-80 in the daylight hours. We can't wait. Wow!! JoshGrrrr Posted February 28, 2006 #44 Share Posted February 28, 2006 It is currently 41° here, but it will get up to 71° before the day is over. The temperature fluctuates drastically here. But, it rarely gets below 28° or so.
wardidaho Posted February 28, 2006 #45 Share Posted February 28, 2006 Glad to have you non board Deanna & Gang. Sounds like a great trip. I have a question for anyone. Are there coffee pots in the cabin rooms? I really need my Canadian coffee!Sharon & Karen Hi S&K, As far as I can find, there are NO coffee pots in cabins. I got my DH a coffee press for Christmas so we can order hot water and make our own in our cabin. I'm hoping to pick up some Jamaican Blue Mountain coffee on our trip as well, not sure how that'll compare to your Canadian coffee ;) Hi Makins family, We have a 10 year old boy with our group. We had planned to do the Dolphin excursion in Cozumel but found out Chakanab Park is closed until ~May due to Wilma damage - bummer. We hope to swim w/Sting Rays and Dunns River Falls too - great suggestions! We left Mexico with a few extra tatoos after our last visit - fortunately they were the temporary type from a wild afternoon at Sr. Frogs :p We also fly into FLL on 3/24 for some pre-cruise fun. It'd be fun to plan to meet up once we're on the ship!
Twin's Posted February 28, 2006 #46 Share Posted February 28, 2006 Hello Gang - Does anyone know how you hang wet bathing suits in a cabin? Perhaps you put them on the balcony. Soon we will be there sitting in the sun and enjoying our cruise. Just bought rain poncho's at the dollar store. (Not that we are going to need them) Sharon & Karen
makins77 Posted March 1, 2006 #47 Share Posted March 1, 2006 Hi again friends. Well not long now. You can do a "Swim with the dolphins/Dunns River Falls" excursion at Ocho, pretty nice trip, but pricey. We are planning on the San San Yacht trip then to Margaritaville there. In Cozumel we are going to San Francisco beach for the day, one price all beverages, lunch, chairs, toys and all, just show up and chill. It would be good for the boys to hook up, they met several friends on our cruise last year. We also took ponchos on our last trip to Ocho, it did rain but we were in the river anyway so not a problem. One thing for those going to Dunns River, peddelars everywhere and the only way out of the park is through their little "flea market". The isles are narrow and crowded with local wares, some pretty kool, but be careful, my niece accidentally kicked one of the little objects that was almost obiviously sat right in the middle of the walk. Well a leg broke off the little creature and i thought for sure the vendor was going to call the police. After some debate he agreed it was misplaced and not our fault. But to experienced travelers they all know this is not uncommon. BTW, 71 degrees here in East Tennessee today, not bad at all, but nothing like what is waiting for us. makins77 Posted March 1, 2006 #48 Share Posted March 1, 2006 P.S., we plan to bring a short clothes line to hang from one partition to the other on our veranda, and a couple of bungee cords to hook it up i think. They also have the spray on tats on-board, or at least they did last year.
makins77 Posted March 1, 2006 #49 Share Posted March 1, 2006 Hey wardidaho what are your plans for Saturday at Ft. Lauderdale, we are driving south to Miami, to the Seaquarium there. Our oldest has been dying to see manatees, not many in Tennesse you know.
stowawaykc Posted March 1, 2006 Author #50 Share Posted March 1, 2006 Hi All!, Just wanted to say that I also am a dog lover. We have 3 in our family, Rat Terrier,(Stripe) Collie mix(Starr), and a Black Lab(KC). I didn't mean anything by the comment, just thought I had seen it all before. Kind of an unusual cruise theme. Makins Family, Do you remember the cost for the San Fransisco Beach tour? I checked out the web site, sent the registration and am waiting for a response. Looks like our kind of hangout. Do you know if the beach survived the Hurricane? I have heard different versions of the level of devistation. Any additional info would be great! Josh, wish I could offer up some encouragment on the changing ship idea, but I think they would slam you with a cancellation if you asked to switch. Would'nt hurt to try though. I read a great review on the thread about last minute things to pack. If you have not checked it out already, I recommend it. Lots of great ideas! (besides the ones already mentioned here) Click on the link in one of the posts. If you can't find it, let me know, I will post it here if I can figure out how to do it. Anybody have any good gambling stratagies to share? Gamble early? late? beginning or end of cruise? Stay out of casino all together? What does everyone think? I won't tell anyone you told me!;) The days are gonna fly now! We will be in the sun before you know it! Take care, Kurt
